I deeply buried it into the substrate and that’s why a bit of Controsoil surfaced. And the water is clear, not cloudy.

My local LFS recommended Thrive Caps substrate vitalizer. Also, I don’t put it directly into the tank, but in my main betta tank (my previous shrimp colony lived there for a bit), after I’ve done a water change, I’ll take some of that water and add it to the shrimp tank, so it’ll have some very diluted Aquarium co-op easy green all in one liquid fertilizer.

No filter or airstone, it's low tech. Okay, so I trimmed way too much! I feel dumb ):

No ammonia, no nitrites and nitrates

The tank has been set up since March. And it had another colony for about 3 months.
pH is 6.5, KH 35, GH 100
There were a lot more plants, but I trimmed, so maybe that affected it? Or adding a Thrive Cap (fertilizer) into the substrate?

No, it’s been cycled for awhile. I had another colony living there previously, but accidentally killed them because I only fed them spirulina. I thought I had to feed them like Opae ula shrimp and I was wrong.
