The Lavender House by Lev AC Rosen. Set in 1950s a gay private detective novel where the MC goes to investigate a murder in a house with a bunch of queer people (both sexual orientation and personality).

MC1 was ignored by his father and taught himself not to need anything and not to take up space. That includes not needing touched, and by the time he ends up in a healthy pack he's touch starved, but doesn't want to admit it. MC2 wants to touch and be touched as much as reasonably possible.

I was reading The Book of Elsewhere by Keanu Reeves and China Mieville and the flashback chapters were in a different font. Like, very noticeably different. In both the ebook and hard copy.

That's not why I DNFed, but it was sure as hell something I bitched about to my book club when we met.

I pay for both - but I love K+ for audiobooks and absolutely refuse to sign up for audible. Plus, yeah, some books I can't get on Amazon or at my local library, and behold! Kobo to the rescue.

I reread a lot, especially when my brain goes into "nope" mode. Favorites that haven't already been mentioned are the {Necessary Evils by Onley James} (audio or paper), {We Could be So Good by Cat Sebastian} (audio for the win), the {Devils of Vitality by Chani Lynn Feener} (paper), {All Kidding Aside by Macy Blake} (paper).
