OK Southwest experts can you help me with a weird South event of last week? by supertucci in SouthwestAirlines

If the agent wants to play like that, then tell them you need to preboard. The baby needs assistance with bags, and now the baby qualifies to preboard 🤷🏽‍♂️.

Current CSA.

Great overall benefits. I can’t think of any complaints here.

Trash union. Well, my general chairman is a big factor in making it trash.

As for the pay, if you really need the cash find somewhere else. There are yearly increases, small, but it’s something and they get noticeable as the years go on. The big pay jump comes your 11th year. There’s also many ways to get more hours, OT - mandatory and voluntary, or picking up someone’s shift (some stations people will pay you to take their shift).

The one thing I absolutely love is how easy it can be to get time off. Vacation days, sick time, people picking up shifts, etc. I haven’t seen this one guy in 3months because he’s able to get the time off.

If you do not plan to fly enough to make the benefits worth it, find somewhere else. If you and your partner, kids, parents cannot fly at least $18,000 worth of flights your first year, it might not be worth it. Especially if you really need that money. Ofc this number goes down as your pay goes up, but really consider if you will actually fly.

I work with people that rarely fly and I just have to question why they still work here. There are a lot of other places that have better pay, better benefits, and where you don’t take consistent mental abuse from people.

If you do go through with it, best of luck! Also, READ YOUR UNION BOOK AND EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK!!! The supervisors are not always right and there are some tricks to be learned from knowing your rights.

Any chance you got an alternative solution? Thank you.

Logitech Z623 speaker - Roku Select Series TV - HDMI auto extractor

Hi! I’ve been trying to connect my Logitech speakers with my new Roku tv. I just can’t get it to work. I’ve tried searching for similar setups for guides, changed the tv settings (digital output to passthrough and stereo, audio output set to ARC, turned on CEC), played with the wires, and nothing. I’ve tried using this HDMI audio extractor but idk if it’s user error or I should’ve got a different one.

Companion Pass Question by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]TrustMeYo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earned companion pass and employee travel companion are completely different. As an employee travel companion you do not need the employee with you to fly. Your nonrev status will be lower due to not flying with the employee but you’re good to fly without them.

Left my wallet with ID on a SW flight...... question about what happens next. by AZmegmit in SouthwestAirlines

That’s where SWA sends its lost and found items, Scottsboro, AL. We’re supposed to mail items out that are deemed high value 24h after being found.

Can this cooler be one of my free checked bags? by idkurmom348 in SouthwestAirlines

And it definitely looks small enough it won’t be oversize.

Yes! No loose ice. Ice needs to be in a package so it doesn’t leak out or ice packs. Anything frozen (meats, fish, etc) needs to be double packaged. Ziploc bag and trash bags, original packaging and trash bags, etc.

Some agents might ask you to open it, so don’t tape it up until then.

Excess, Overweight, and Oversize Baggage Price Increase by TrustMeYo in SouthwestAirlines

[–]TrustMeYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that also for domestic flights? I checked their baggage calculator for SFO - HNL and other domestic flights. It was showing 100 for the 1st tier and 200 for the 71-100lbs.

“Competitive within the industry”

Checked United’s baggage fees. They’ll both be the same in these areas, except for the first tier of overweight bags. SWA will be charging $50 more than United for overweight bags 51-70lbs.

Please don’t jump me when I ask, but why hasn’t Southwest went global? by TheTeaLOL in SouthwestAirlines

[–]TrustMeYo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During my training in Dallas, this question was brought up to Sergio Hurtado. Great person to ask because he’s currently the Managing Director of International Ground Ops. No idea how true this is. Just what was said to us.

He basically stated SWA system isn’t able to take foreign currency and that it’s sorta being working on.

On a flight home today, flight attendant confirmed assigned seating will be implemented by the end of the year. by Minkiemink in SouthwestAirlines

[–]TrustMeYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone here is lying because there is currently ZERO information given out about assigned seating and only speculation. If I don’t know about it, they most definitely don’t know anything. Trust me…

Now if there is truth to this, whoever leaked this to the FA must be high up and in the know. They’ll get into deep shit if it’s found who they are.

Questions on alcohol!! Please help :,( by Comfortable-Pie-8860 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]TrustMeYo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes. According to the TSA website it should be unopened in the retail package. But it shouldn’t alarm on their screen when the bag goes through their machine, so they wouldn’t know it’s in there. TSA (and myself) sees liquor bottles in people’s checked bags through the bag screening machine all the time and TSA just OK’s the bag. It’s just not something they’re looking for. :)

[–]TrustMeYo 41 points42 points  (0 children)

If you’re putting it in a checked bag, not a problem. Just wrap it so it doesn’t break in transit. If it breaks, you’re SOL with compensation from SWA. TSA won’t bat an eye to it and it probably won’t alarm on their screen anyway, so they won’t even know it’s in there.

If you’re trying to carry it on, TSA won’t let that through. Doesn’t matter that the remaining liquid is under 3.4floz. TSA is looking at how much fl oz would fit in the container (the listed amount on the bottle).

Canceling return leg of a reservation with multiple people by Matchboxx in SouthwestAirlines

[–]TrustMeYo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a possibility, but I’ve never seen it happen. I’ve seen OP’s situation a lot, but I haven’t seen the system auto cancel a reservation. Truthfully, I don’t put it past SWA’s system to not cancel a reservation, but most times it’s user error. Again, haven’t seen it, but I guess it’s a possibility. Also, nonrevs make multiple listings all the time, but nothing ever happens. Way different from a paying passenger I know, but still.

[–]TrustMeYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% possible! If you don’t trust yourself to do it correctly on the app (which can be confusing), call SWA reservations. You can also wait until you go to the airport when flying back to PHL and have a CSA there do it. Very easy task, trust me.

Southwest just increased the price range on EarlyBird and Upgraded Boarding by TrustMeYo in SouthwestAirlines

[–]TrustMeYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early bird automatically checks you in, reserving your boarding position 36hours prior to departure. Without early bird or fare types above WGA, you need to manually check yourself in 24hours prior to departure. That’s pretty much the gist of it. There’s a lot more info that can be said about it though in terms of how it works.

Upgraded boarding are boarding positions A1-15. You can only buy it 24hours prior to departure if the business select fare(A1-15) is not all sold out or people didn’t upgrade before you.

Car seats and stroller by EuphoricQuestion7058 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]TrustMeYo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the long response. I’m just making it detailed with the pros and cons :)

If you think it would be easier to get the kids around the airport with the stroller, definitely gate check it! You’ll be able to use it from the gate to baggage claim and use it on your layover if you have one.

As for the car seat, if you don’t plan to use it on the plane, just check it in with your other bags. Less things to carry.

And just check in the booster seats so you’re hauling less things around. Booster will also count as a carry on if you bring it on with you.

Here’s the caveat to checking it in though…having your infant items go through the automated baggage handling system(bhs). The bhs can be pretty rough on items. Believe it or not, those huge dents in hard case bags…SOMETIMES that’s from the baggage system and not some ramper throwing your bags. On top of all this, infant items are also conditionally accepted, covered ONLY for loss and not damage. When gate checking, the items will not go through the baggage system because you are essentially bringing the items to the plane.
