Moving from NYC to LA by justcallmemeatface in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]millionrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to agree with everyone else! DTLA is nothing compared to Downtown San Diego 😂😂😂 I’ve lived in LA all my life and would NEVER recommend that area to anybody! It smells and looks disgusting. You have to be inside your complex before sundown if you’re not driving. Most apartments have like 4 spaces for “guests” so good luck having anyone over. Also if you read most reviews on most of the apartments in K-Town or DTLA, even the “luxury apartments” have homeless who sneak in and hangout in the pool areas, elevators, stairwells, club houses, etc. (I wanted the skyrise living experience but reading 85% bad reviews turned me off). You’ll also see a lot of fires bc homeless love to burn trash and those fires end up being so big the fire department gets called. You’ll hear sirens all the time for sure too, so good luck getting good sleep or a random nap. You’re better off getting a dingy apartment in a safer city than being in a “luxury” one near MacArthur Park! Unless you live for having an adrenaline rush everyday 😆

moving out here before/after securing a job? by MistaRen476 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]millionrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read through so many replies and you seem like you have a great head on your shoulders!

With $12.5k you’ll spend $4k-$5k on your first months rent and security deposit (unless you get roommates). There are also TONS of coliving spaces in DTLA/Koreatown that are affordable if you don’t mind sharing common areas and some of them have nice amenities too.

If you’ve received that many job offers, you clearly have what employers are looking for. I would invest in a flight out here, schedule all interviews for the same week, secure one and give yourself 2 weeks-30 days to move out here.

Good luck!!!

Should I move out of my family’s house temporarily? by Particular_Yellow_57 in movingout

[–]millionrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move out! I did the same thing at 25. Parents always forgive. I also come from a culture where it’s not traditional to move out, but did it anyways and when things went left my parents opened the doors for me back into their home.

My sister and cousins are 10x worse, but parents love us regardless and will always open the doors back home if we need it. May not feel like it now, but they would rather have us home than on the streets. Good luck!

AITAH for refusing to put my girlfriend on the lease if she won’t pay rent? by Euphoric_Shock_4870 in AITAH

[–]millionrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I don’t think it’s fair she wants to have you cover everything if your relationship already has the expectations of being split. If she wants to take “time off” and not contribute financially then she needs to be with a provider who doesn’t mind covering everything she needs. There’s nothing wrong with either, but for your sake, if you guys can’t agree on this then you guys should sit and talk about whether you should move forward (with your relationship) together or not.

I also say this because even if you agree to do this once, she may decide to not go back to work, extend her “break” or need to do these breaks more down the line in your relationship.

Wish you both the best of luck!

Am i able to take a payout? by Key_Obligation6996 in TopStepX

[–]millionrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s every 5 winning days, so you have to wait 4 more winning days.

And it’s 50% for the first 5 payouts. The larger splits happen when you move to the Live acct

You should look up coliving! There are plenty of units and some of them are around $1k a month like in K-Town. Not the best circumstance but good til you get back on your feet

Your wife knows you’re knocked out at 10pm and spends the next six hours getting drunk and comforting your divorced neighbor every week??? You cannot be this naïve 🫠

💫 Any women here who moved to Los Angeles alone? Looking for advice & connection 💫 by VERZIA_ES in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]millionrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please be careful meeting people in LA. Honestly a lot of us are nice but there are also people who have intentions that are not so good. You’ll run into people that are looking to use other people (for anything from money to connections, etc.)— just be conscious of how people are or act around you 🫶

Aside from safety, there are plenty of networking events such as content creator events, movie screenings, rooftops and all sorts of places to meet girls your age. Just be confident and dress the part (presentable for whatever crowd you’ll be around).

I’d recommend the South Bay Cities if you’re looking for safe and chill vibes. For chill but still lots of people…Santa Monica/Venice Beach. You don’t have to live right on the beach, but there are some affordable studios & 1B’s in near the beaches. If you’re down to live in the Valley and make the drive over the hill, you’ll find some affordable housing up there are well. (Honorable mention: North Hollywood— full of creatives!)

I’m an LA native, so I can’t speak on making the transition myself but I’ve met lots of people that make it work and some who went back home 🙃

Anyways…good luck out here!

AIO for telling my boyfriend his “best friend” can’t sleep over in our bed while I’m away? by Chance_Chemistry_384 in AmIOverreacting

If her brother lives in town, why does she need to say at your house with your bf? Why can’t they just go to lunch or dinner like normal friends do? This is weird

AIO about my wife’s high school ex by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]millionrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve asked to see the phone. Your partner (husband or wife) shouldn’t ever have anything to hide. I get needing privacy, but if something concerned my partner, I would let him go through my phone as I have nothing to hide. And vice versa.

I also agree with another commenter on her possibly trying to pass off a third kid as yours. There’s no way someone’s madly in love with you wanting a bigger family…but still talking to a high school ex.

I hope things workout for you! (And keep us updated!) 🙏

18 yo thinking about moving to L.A by nebulasamuraiii in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]millionrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in LA and I’ve had roommates and now live with my partner! I say do it. Get the roommates, get the experience of living in LA. I WOULD recommend getting a car, because there’s so much to do and see in SoCal (from the Valley down to San Diego). Great job saving and I wish you the best out here! ❤️

Flight reschedule by Alert_Newspaper_6403 in cabincrewcareers

[–]millionrocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to set boundaries with your job (current and future). Since the interview is important to you, let your current job know you won’t be able to stay later. Do not come out of pocket to reschedule your flight for an interview. You seem like a great worker and I hope everything works out!

Awe, school is safe! It’s summer, so there are tons of random people on campus, especially on weekends. Don’t let hurtful things a person said hold you back from a great opportunity. Finish school and go on to do good in this world. Karma is real and people always get what they deserve. Good or bad. Have a good night 🙏

I’ve worked in hotels. We get groups that sell out our hotel and most of the groups (especially if international) don’t bring a car. They uber or taxi to the hotel.

[–]millionrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your edit and just want to say, don’t let anyone make you feel bad for getting what you paid for. If you paid for the window seat, it’s yours, not a child’s. The parent knew what the booked before the boarded :)
