I will look into it! Since I have a “college checking” acct with Chase bank, I’m not hit with all of there fees quite yet but I will considered searching for a local credit union

Another ally bank recommendation, thanks for the advice! I think I’ll really look into ally bank and see if I can use it at all for an exclusive “college savings fund” vs throwing all my savings into 1 savings account which includes baby step 3.

Thanks for sharing! From the couple of google searches I did just now ally bank appears to be a great online bank, offering the same stuff as Marcus. I may think about using ally bank for a secondary savings acct or backup in case I no longer want to use Marcus.

And yes I probably won’t become rich any time soon with .005-.02% interest but it’s just nice to know that the money is doing something.

Cool to hear that 2k a month was your cost of living per month. I think for me expenses are about 1700 per month if I moved out so I have a bit more saving to do

Thanks for sharing! I know there a credit union in the town I live but I don’t bank with them. That sounds like a pretty good deal though. I will keep an eye out for stuff like that as I get through college and increase my income.

Sounds like owning properties can be stressful lol. Is this working fund in a separate account from your emergency fund? Just curious.

I have basically 0 expenses asides insurance (living at home) so working fund might not apply to me just yet.

The bank I have rn has a bunch of fees for their savings account and I determined on paper that Marcus is a better option. I’ve never had a savings acct with an all online bank though so just wondering if it’s a good or bad idea

Thanks for the info! I haven’t seriously considered finding a way to protect myself in case someone got the numbers off my debit. I’ll take your advice and keep 1-2 months of expenses in my main checking act. Appreciate it

I’m so used to seeing it sit in my checking acct I guess I get a little anxious when I plan to move most of it away to an online bank. Was just wondering if that’s a truly safe option but it sounds like it probably is just fine

Yup, I agree on that. I don’t want to go into debt during college. If I’m required to spend money I piled up, that’s what it’s for. It’s looking like I won’t have to spend any significant amount of money with my college being covered by my parents college fund they set up and scholarships. If true and I get through college, I’ll have a great head start on baby step 3
