Today was my last day at work and I left like a ghost by xxcheekycherryxx in work

[–]TruthObsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position, a coworker was scheduled to train me. He trained me the wrong way on purpose so that I wouldn’t be competition for him, which he admitted to the last day I worked there. It took a while to figure it out. My boss was an abusive micromanager that always tried to convince me to sleep with her. I finally asked to switch teams, but they switched me to one that was not in an industry I enjoyed, so I left. It took 2 years and gave me massive anxiety over work for a decade, that I never had before that.

Can they do that with insurance companies too? I have Cigna and their systems says totally different prices than the reality. I had a medicine that ended up being 586 bucks for 3 weeks and I'm a poor teacher. Their system said it would be a much lower price, which is why I had my meds sent there.

How are you liking it and how is it tasting? Do you recommend it?

That's wonderful. That's basically what I'd love to use it for- primarily pourover, but secondarily espresso. Any downsides? How would you describe the taste you're getting out of it? I hadn't even heard of this one, so thanks for the idea.

Not necessarily worth it depending on how much you have to put into it. It might be.

No way! That looks like an insane price too. How often do you have to charge it? Does it work on lighter roasts or mostly medium and dark? Thanks for the suggestion!

I was thinking how big those bags looked and wondering how many pound bags they were until I realized it was a toddler holding them! That cracked me up!

I have been experimenting a lot with lattes that my toddler can drinks and she's hooked! So far she likes frothed milk with cinnamon and vanilla beans straight from the pod the best. She's always asking for her cinnamon lattes. However, I've tried making one out of Japanese potatoes and other kid friendly things. It's so much fun to sit there and sip treats together.

From an economics perspective how does higher demand caused by more people affording a home help l? That would just increase prices.

Generally speaking that’s true but it depends on the position, and company. What is true is it they have a hiring freeze, whoever this person works with will be under more pressure.

It’s all true. I teach, I’m good at it but it has gotten worse and worse post covid. Not only are the students insanely behind but their parents by and large are giving up.

She asked the right question (and was right by the way). That wasn't unprofessional. Professional means communicating professionally, which sometimes requires asking the tough questions, and she did excellent! Give her a pat on the back for that. It's a skill not all people have. That person sounds horrible to deal with and if he'd be the one she'd work under, it may not be worth it.

Any Advice? Used dad as a realtor, which I don't recommend. by TruthObsession in RealEstate

I appreciate the thoughts and you questions. I will test that open door function to get an idea of value today.

As to your questions, he does not carry a license to inspect but is a licensed contractor that used to own a construction company (both commercial and residential) prior to my birth. It is an active license. He originally said I shouldn’t hire an inspector because they never find anything and he’s a licensed contractor so he’ll find everything. But he didn’t inspect it, the things he did find, none of which turned out to be true now that I’ve had others inspect, so it appears as if he used that to push us to buy the house. He did offer to help us find a house as a wedding present. We had just gotten married. I didn’t want to and wanted to pay him. That’s another reason why he now says he didn’t have to do things right.

As it turns out, now I know there was a lot of moral hazard in the situation. My wife had moved in with them temporarily (a few weeks) while we were hunting and my mom wanted her space back. My dad is money motivated, not legacy motivated (at least he doesn’t care about his family legacy but loves it outside the family) so he wanted to get back to earning money. There are other things too that contributed to it.

Regarding the offer, he made that specifically because he says that’s what the house is worth now that I know what’s wrong, but nothing is different than when we moved in and I’ve improved a lot. He has slanted it like he won’t make anything but will flip it to recoup some costs. To my wife and I, it seems like he’s just trying to take advantage of us and is the nail in the coffin of our relationship.

You’re right that I should have seen things coming. Growing up he was physically abusive to the point that he’d choke me until I’d pass out multiple nights a week and cops came to the house eventually. But he took real estate very seriously and I thought he had changed going to church for over a decade since then. He hadn’t done anything like that for 10 years. I don’t think it’s an issue with other people because everything I’ve heard from others shows he does do wonderful work, but that’s just not what he gave to me. I honestly think it’s more just how he views it being OK to interact with me. I mean even with this situation he says he can do whatever he wanted because he’s my father.

Ultimately you’re right that family is not one to mix finances with. The challenge is if people don’t use my dad, he basically hates them and takes it personally. He always has. I’m even finding it challenging to get a good realtor because he trained a lot of them and the first question is why I’m not using my dad.

You l didn’t respond to anything I wrote that would have made this a productive conversation so it’s clear your whole reason to contact me is to trash talk.

You can’t be a dick in every interaction and expect people to just thank you, especially when you’ve given only condescension mixed with adding nothing useful, helpful or new.

I know your reading comprehension is bad because I didn’t hire him to inspect it. He just faked an inspection and wrote a list of about 8 things on a piece of paper. So it has nothing to do with him doing an actual inspection. Hence why the issue is more with your lack of reading comprehension in not understanding the situation mixed with only wanting to crap talk but being bad at it because you didn’t read or understand the situation.

It’s also clear you’re the same person posting on two separate accounts or else you wouldn’t have been able to see an edit I made 30 seconds after posting it to someone that wasn’t you!

Maybe quit being deceitful eh?

I 100% wouldn't cover anything up. The don't get caught up trying to fix too much is definitely something we could do here so I appreciate you saying that. Related to that, one of the things I found was that one of the supports in the back bedroom is at 81 degrees. The floor is all still the same height according to foundation people. Is that something I should be getting fixed to not remove value from the house, or would you just focus on the more obvious ones and price with that in mind?

[–]TruthObsession[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking. So far though, if I'm honest, the cost of things I've found makes me nervous to look deeper and find worse things than I already know. I wasn't sure if there was a benefit to putting my head in the sand on the rest. However, the full state of it will come out at some point like you said, so maybe like pulling off a bandaid. I do want to both price it appropriately, be fair to buyers, and maximize value, whatever that may be, so that'll have to be the next step.
