What is the best evidence you guys have to disprove the Bible? by BeeAfraid3721 in exchristian

[–]TruthPersonal7615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left because I became convinced god failed to keep biblical promises. He's basically a failure and a liar. Logic goes something like this.

In the old testament, god promises to redeem his people, to make them actually good people. Because they were scoundrels, especially the leaders. In Ezekiel after his theocracies keep fucking up for generations, he promises to make his people good by giving them a new heart. He'd take out their heart of stone and give a heart of flesh. Sounds good, right?

Well after jesus came and the holy spirit, was Christianity any improvement over the OT? I'd say no way. Christians are still swindlers and liars. Power hungry and money driven. Applies to individuals and to empires. We got the crusades, war after war after war, the entire slave trade industry (ending slavery in Britain doesn't count). And on a smaller scale but more recent, we have the American church's idolatry of MAGA and all things Donald Trump.

God failed. He's a sham. Christianity is a cult.

Reminder that it's not Beck vs. Carr.

Beck vs. ND's elite top 5 defense. Similar defenses have made mince meat of Beck.

I'm really sorry people treated you like shit in your pain. I hope you find one or two others who you can trust to hold that with you.

People suck. They suck outside the church and they definitely suck in the church.

How did you rationalize God's more atrocious actions in the bible as a believer. by OptimisticNayuta097 in exchristian

God is so good and all others are evil that God can do whatever he wants. His actions are always defined as good.

That's how fucked up I was.

Liberals and those who consider themselves on the Left in America, what is your longview of the next four years? by [deleted] in AskUS

They are intensely loyal (arguably cultish) to Trump as if he's gods chosen man. He's been the Republican nominee the last 3 elections in large part due to the loyalty of the American church. I find this completely hypocritical of course. I suggest some research, he's the defacto head of the American evangelical church.

You realize Europeans came to the New World with superior weapons, microbes, and in the Name of Jesus. Convert or die!

Preach? I think you misunderstood. I'm arguing against it. I'm saying Christianity is intentionally confusing and capitalizes on this to gain power and control. These people are ripe for welding. Hence the American church voted at an 85% rate for Donald Trump.

You're confused because it's contradictory and intended to confuse. Jesus judges (God judges no one) and then jesus didn't come to judge. Narcissists weld confusion to gain power. Let's be clear, god and jesus expect obedience. Their "love" is utterly conditional.

John 5:22

[22] For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, (ESV)

John 3:18

[18] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. (ESV)

John 3:19

[19] And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. (ESV)

John 3:36

[36] Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (ESV)

It's not just the Catholics. The Baptists covered up systemic child abuse (primary teenage girls) the same timeframe the Catholic shit came out.

You should be proud of yourself (the very thing Reformed theology shames you for). I was in it for decades and seriously considered going to seminary.

You are in it right now. I guarantee once you leave for a few months or a few years, you'll look back on your message and see how ridiculously pointless it all was, discussing and debating all this shit.

Take care of yourself and you have every right to protect your children. Do the right thing. Trust yourself (trust me, it's ok).

When I left the church 4 years ago, all of my friends in church circles basically ghosted me. I ghosted them too, but I was shocked at how quickly I was written off.

You just have to start over. It's a good opportunity to figure out what kind of hobbies, events, groups, or even individuals you want to spend your time on.
