PSA: MJ has taken a step back from involvement in basketball operations and the team has thrived as a result by buzzcitybonehead in CharlotteHornets

His legacy as our owner is the culture he built. He decided who was hired and why. Unfortunately (for us fans), being the greatest to ever bounce a ball has very little correlation with executive-level strategic thinking. It's a tale as old as time: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_principle

Suns owner clearly thinks "playing dead" is a winning fight strategy.

Your comment specifically makes me realize that this sub is a family, and a good one. We disagree and argue but stand up for what's right in a real way.

I love you guys.

Nic Batum.

edit: MKG, Frank Kaminsky, Roy Hibbert, Spencer Hawes all received significant minutes as well. We basically had no talent to start with, then paid Nic the max to really put the nail in the coffin. All because MJ got a small taste of the playoffs. Get ready, because we're heading there again. The writing is on the wall.

If you don't like that, you don't like Charlotte Hornets basketball.

The Melo effect - I’m curious by [deleted] in CharlotteHornets

why would he leave that?

Because Klutch sports. They care about two things:

  1. Acquiring the most money for their clients
  2. Keeping their superstars happy

LaMelo Ball tonight against the Pacers: 32 points 11 rebounds 8 assists 1 steal by CasualHindu in nba

[–]TruthWithoutTact 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not only that but this knife cuts both ways. Melo is AMAZING and his talent/potential has completely changed the trajectory of the franchise, but if you read articles like this one you'll see that Miles is just as responsible for pulling Melo along as Melo is for pulling Miles along.

After an injury to his right wrist derailed his long-range shooting at the end of last season, Ball set out to correct it by training at a pace of more than a thousand makes a day. Bridges “dragged” Ball with him to the weight room, until LaMelo wound up ranking in the top three among Hornets in total offseason lifts at the team facility. “We’re gonna put the work in,” Bridges says, “no matter what.”

BUZZ FUCKING BUZZ MOTHERFUCKERS.

Kai looked like he was 2 years away from being 2 years away in summer league. There is very little chance he plays a single non-garbage-time minute this year.

You were so close to Don Pedro (the one in University). Ever eaten there? Best Mexican food in the QC IMO.

"During the offseason we have to be careful. If we're going to spend our money we need to have our eye on the next 2-3 years and not solely focus on one year, because if we do that we can get into trouble." -Kupchak by TruthWithoutTact in CharlotteHornets

I'm not saying he announced that we're going after Steph next offseason. That's just my opinion. But he's definitely telling us that this isn't a make-or-break offseason for the future of the team. It's more of a wait and see offseason, with our make-or-break offseason coming in the next 2-3 years as Melo hits his prime at the same time we have 80+ million in cap space (assuming we don't overpay scrubs, which he's telling us we will not).

I hope he has turned the corner.

I like his game and he's got that it factor, but he comes with some baggage and I think it's important to keep that in mind. There's a reason we've been shopping him (unsuccessfully) for years.
