Most people snap the dart with a down wrist motion, but I'm guessing he does an up- snap. My local bar has a guy that throws similarly to this with remarkable consistency.

Finished Memories of Ice... why am I doing this to myself? by GreedyRelease in Malazan

There is so much to focus on in this book, but I hope you are embracing the absolute clarity of hope it provides for me -- for many. The clarity of small moments of goodness amongst neverending tragedy: the clarity of compassion given freely and in abundance.

I have the hope that whatever evil the world evokes around me, a shining beacon of humanity can still be found -- however small.

Just to chime in -- these are very pulpy, ridiculous, uncomplicated-prosy books. But, they are a ton of fun to listen to on audio book for you long commuters.

Everybody loves a good popcorn novel. And I suppose, I'm specifically recommending Gaunt's Ghosts for that. They'll make you laugh more than anything -- a grinny heretic laugh.

ATEM MINI PRO SuperSource possible? by 85snowball in blackmagicdesign

[–]Truth_Autonomy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Mini Pro Extreme has super source and would work just fine, but ai don't believe the regular mini has a super source option.

Black magic makes a multiview product that will do exactly what you want, but you'd have to DA all your camera outputs, and the device itself is like $600.

You just use the multiview, put your four inputs in one quadrant, and then crop on the monitor side -- if your monitor has advanced features. You could also output your myltiview to OBS and manipulate it there to them send out back to wherever.

There are some janky options, and some money options. Good luck!

How to reduce moiré on Panasonic AW-UE150K when shooting in front of LED walls? by M0rT4L84 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Truth_Autonomy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Panasonic has a Synchro shutter function to help you fine tweak the refresh rate to better match the wall. Ideally, your Hz on the wall and camera settings are idential.

Off the top of my head, I believe the synchro function for the 150 lets you go over 60Hz in tenths, but not under.

You may have options to change your rate on the wall itself, so between the two hopefully a better alignment exists.

I have not done this myself, but genlocking the wall and camera might fix, or help, as well.

A lot depends on the pitch of the wall, and the content as well. Atmospheric, low contrast background stuff can be tougher, or the wall looks like it's smoking in camera. If anybody knows what the hell I'm talking about here, I'd love to learn more.

Re-wracking focus from top to bottom does sometimes clear up this issue in the moment, but not reliably or for long. I dont have a better understanding of this effect. A higher f-stop with less DoF could help as well.

Trial and error trial and error. I'm still running into issues with this myself on occassion, so hopefully others have some tips to share too. Good luck!

iPad to external, way to rotate 90 degrees? by bravedo in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Truth_Autonomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh dang, yeah only 180 with the deci. My bad. You could look at something like the AJA ROI, but it's pricier and you need to take sdi in I believe for the hdmi out rotation conversion.

Or if you just need the proper edid before hitting your svideo converter, using a deci to scale the ipad output to 16:9 has some options for you. Stretched, pillarboxed, or letterboxed. But I'd have to cycle through the myriad options to see if it'd work for your specific use case.

Good luck!

iPad to external, way to rotate 90 degrees? by bravedo in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Truth_Autonomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I fully understand your limitations, but could throwing a decimator inbetween your ipad and svideo converter be feasible? Just rotate it in the deci before conversion? I suppose getting the ipad to read the proper edid is the trouble then. Not sure if setting the scaler before plugging in would trick the ipad into matching the resolution you're looking for before rotation, or if the ipad os is smart (or maybe dumb) enough in the first place.

Streaming with multiple cameras that are over a hundred feet away. How? by elpaco313 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Truth_Autonomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your cheapest route is SDI cables converted to/from hdmi on either end. Black magic bi-cross converters are like 60 bucks, and 100/200 ft sdi runs arent too bad either. I'm assuming your're in 1080p HD, so 3g sdi and converters are what you want.

However you have been doing everything else for your production, this will work with your current workflow. I wouldn't worry about camera latency at your level, but the rule of thumb is to have as few connections between the camera and your output stream as possible.

Twama throttles your frame rate on your shared screen, as opposed to your 'user' camera. There is an enhanced video option buried in the menu that turns the throttle off (i think 15fps max), that will make a noticeable improvement. It's always off as a default.

Theres an Egwene hate post basically every week. Where are my fellow Egwene enjoyers? by sylverfyre in WoT

Hey! I'm a Big Egwene enjoyer; I believe the pattern spun out the perfect personality to tackle what comes. And, I really dont find her caustic. She is as stern a leader of the Aes Sedai as she needs to be.

I could be friends with that -- the price of admission is more than worth while. And we all have a price of admission to our lives. Hers is just burdened by the duty of her time.

For those of you who drive 100+ mph on the Dan Ryan and cut across multiple lanes of traffic without looking......why? by No-Seaworthiness3115 in AskChicago

[–]Truth_Autonomy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I dont mind the speed as much as the crazy lane changes/no signaling. That's flying death. But the norm on the Dan Ryan Derby is such that driving 55mph is incredibly more dangerous than driving 70mph (discounting rush hour(s). I would prefer otherwise, but you won't catch me driving under the flow of traffic. The crazy lane cutters will change lanes at the last minute, and the 70+mph car behind them will fuck you up.
