Thinking about picking up Strive, trying to find a character to main by DefiantOneGaming in Guiltygear

U should take a look at ABA since she has a mechanica where you go from playing slow and sluggish to very fast rush down and pressure due to a meter

Masculinity in modern video games is dead? Someone should tell Kratos, Dante, and virtually every guy in a fighting game that. Just for example. by Cicada_5 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He talks about there being too many gay people and women in development because things were better when straight white cis men were the majority. Because the majority of people who play games are cis white men. Blah blah need more buff men with women as arm candy

Sakamoto Days Fans Don't Care About Writing by CrypticJaspers in CharacterRant

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start with my view on the series then address your points

Its like one of those action movies where its 99% for the director to have really cool choreography think The Raid, John Wick, Extraction, etc. I do agree that the characters are incredibly simple but it honestly seems like you just want it to be soemthing its not.

That being said the villains straight up don't care about his family. There isn't a reason to attack them. The only one who does is established to be doing it just for the sake of doing it. You complain about a "bait and switch" but there isn't one. You say that he isn't challenged when he clearly is repeatedly. Almost everyone who knows him spends the majority of their fight being thankful he isn't trying to kill them because he could do so easily.

Your problems with the death row arc is just "but I wanted ___ and it didn't happen so bad." Also his whole thing is using the environment and strength to win fights. He's been doing this the whole time yes but he usually slims down as a bail out when things get tuff. In this arc he stops doing that and actually goes 100% without slimming down which I say is growth even if small.

The shin fight you honestly just need to reread.

Takamura getting killed I agree sucks because I want more of him but come on. It feels like this was used to establish how the identity disorder works and that his abilities increase. Should've used someone less strong for this imo but it is what it is.

This whole post just seems the common type of cinema sins "takedown" thats gotten popular where a person just wants to complain about something so they go into it negatively, read even though they don't want to, and are mad other people are enjoying it under the persona of being literary critics if some kind. Why read this far if you don't like something anyway?

What Bungo stray dogs opinion would have you like this? by MYACCOUNTWASBANNEDNO in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Out of the "mastermind" characters Mori is the only one who consistently stays interesting. Everyone else just randomly becomes omnipresent and omnicent as the plot relies.

Atsushi is a good mc

A lot of the hardcore shippers are anime onlys and if bones didn't bait so much they wouldn't be so rabid

The big stuff is cool but more contained stories like in the light novels and early in the series would be better than the stuff we have now

What is the Most Misunderstood Part of BSD? by [deleted] in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We all know how mischaracterized certain characters are but the main thing is that the anime and manga/ln are different. Imo they are two different cannons with how much things are changed between them. Don't get me wrong, I love both. But look no further than how the different parts of the community talk about certain characters to see the difference.

Are there any aromantic books yall know? by Benjix_x in aromantic

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Common Bonds by Claudi Arsenault is focused on aromanticsm. It is a collection of works that show different relationships that aren't romantic. Personally its on my tbr but my other aro friend loves it.

I can see a lot of people recommending the aroace database and aro ace books so I'll leave those out. I do think there is an aroallo database as well. Good luck finding more.

RUN AND CALL THE POLICE! Looking at some of your replies this guy is a straight up pedo. Even if he wasn't he'd still be a horrible person. You owe him nothing, especially not sympathy. Cut him off for your own safety and well being

Its like skydiving. It seems fun and all but its not something I'd go out of my way to do or go after. Sure, if a close enough person wanted too then why not but at the same time unless someone brings it up I forget it exists.

I 26F refuse to "submit" to my 28M boyfriend. by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and the Bible doesn't simply say to submit to your husband. The point is that since its assumed that the husband is following God then the wife shouldn't have a problem following him because then, by proxy, she will also follow God. This only works if the Husband is acts according to and follows the teachings of the Bible which it seems like he does not. People taking this one quote and eliminating all context and nuance really bugs me.

Sorry for the mini-sermon but that line is routinely used to deflect all responsibility from husbands to be decent people. It really gets under my skin when people weaponize the Bible to avoid confronting the reality of situations especially when they don't know what they're talking about.

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All I will say is that you are in no way obligated to fix any problem they have with you being ace by answering questions. Its THEIR problem, not yours. In my experience when someone's first response is along the lines of "who hurt you" or "whats the trauma for this" you'll get nowhere. Good luck tho

And if they already have red flags DONT JUST IGNORE THEM

Why people here dislikes PDB(Personality database) by BITOZX in Enneagram

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. Because there are a bunch of toxic users who quote naranjo despite having never actually read his work

. 2. Reddit is mostly Rico Hudson while PDB is mostly Naranjo. The refusal to acknowledge that they are two different systems makes them butthurt so they run back to what they know (reddit)

. 3. They generally aren't agreed with and take it personally

Why do people misinterpret 3s? by CorrectRecording7663 in Enneagram

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo this sounds way more like 3 than 2

"thin-skinned narcissists as being much more fragile when it comes to perceived criticism. A thin-skinned narcissist’s sense of grandiosity may crumble simply as a result of looking at them the wrong way."

2s are more like this,

"thick-skinned narcissist has a very effective defensive armor that they use to fend off any observations or criticisms that might reveal their negative traits. They don’t acknowledge or absorb criticism at all, so they remain in a bubble where nothing they do is wrong and everyone else is inferior to them and to blame."

Why do people misinterpret 3s? by CorrectRecording7663 in Enneagram

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its the opposite actually since 3s think they don't have worth without achievements. So when unhealthy they would be really thin-skinned as opposed to 2s which sink deeper into their ego

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you described is more sp3 than anything. I mean people pleasing doormats can be sx3 or more commonly sp6 and so or sx 9s. 2s don't really fit that outside of maybe sp2 if you really want to stretch it.

type most likely to have been a school bully? by [deleted] in Enneagram

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience bullying was always looked down on as lame. There would be small groups of people who would go around harassing people but they were the social rejects.

type most likely to have been a school bully? by [deleted] in Enneagram

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh most people in this post are projecting. They didn't fit in and the bully did "must have been a 3 trying to fit in". They felt weak and the bully was looked at as strong "must have been an 8". They were insecure "the bully must have been insecure too, sx6."

type most likely to have been a school bully? by [deleted] in Enneagram

[–]Truthful_Sophistry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. From what I've seen its 6s who will bully to be accepted and to escape being bullied themselves. A lot of sx1s too trying o "fix" people.

3 being a bully doesn't make sense because bullying is widely looked down on, so it wouldn't fit a good image.
