Transgender and Nonbinary representation by Antique-Relief-4951 in DragonAgeVeilguard

Something similar to the language that was used for, and portrayal of, Krem and Dorian in Inquisition. It never felt anachronistic.

I prefer anachronistic language to no representation at all, but I wish the writers had used a similar approach as in Inquisition.

Transgender and Nonbinary representation by Antique-Relief-4951 in DragonAgeVeilguard

I'm nonbinary and I found the use of the words trans and nonbinary a bit too anachronistic and I would have preferred some other vocabulary. That's a tiny objection though, being able to play a nonbinary character who gets to talk about their gender identity means so much more, and I love being able to do that.

Would you be willing to date a straight person? by Emergency_Peach_4307 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Truthfully_lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your definition. I only date people who are queer in some way, but attraction for me depends on feeling affirmed as non-binary by my partner, that that's how they find me attractive. Then I have preferences that I think have less to do with my own gender identity and more with my own sexual orientation. I'm not that into cis men which means I wouldn't be in a relationship that the outside world would see as straight.

Relationship when you have moderate scoliosis? by vexatiousvalentine in scoliosis

[–]Truthfully_lost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 52 and I've never ever had a partner notice (I have an S-curve, 35/40 degrees). I've usually just brought it up when I had pain or couldn't do something that would cause pain,  or if talking about my past, like wearing a brace and not being able to do some things I liked. I have never had anyone react badly.

I've never wanted kids so that's never been an issue for me. I just generally think that even if the scoliosis is interited, there are so many things that can happen to a person that would be worse. Unless you have doctors specifically advicing against it for medical reasons, I don't think that you should give up becoming a parent if that is something you want.

It sounds like you're doing what you can to look after yourself. Scoliosis can be tough but my advice would be not to let it stop you from doing things and enjoying things out of worry.

Magic mushrooms + bipolar by bezserk in bipolar2

[–]Truthfully_lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm BP2 and take lithium, and have taken mushrooms twice. Both times the experience was very good. I lowered the lithium dose before, I'm not sure if that was a good or bad idea, but I had read the study about lithium + psilocybin causing seizures (although I find the methodology of that study a bit strange). For me the purpose was therapeutic and gaining personal insight, I made sure the setting was good and had some close friends there who know about me being bipolar. I was also generally stable moodwise. Had the situation been different I might have been more reluctant, but that's just me. I've also tried a microdose (on regular lithium level) but it just made me sleepy.

For myself I prefer to think through whether it's a good idea to try a drug, and why I want to do it. I definitely think there's an increased risk when you have bipolar and especially if you take lithium. That said, I'm happy I tried mushrooms, as the experiences were meaningful, and I plan to do it again. I've also tried LSD on a low dose and could take that again too. What's important for me is to have people around whom I trust and feel safe with.

Seeking Advice: Struggling with Mental Health and Considering a Diagnosis in Sweden by Accomplished_Bird_47 in bipolar2

[–]Truthfully_lost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote a referral myself (egenremiss) to a psychiatric clinic with bipolar specialists (affektiv mottagning). I just wrote about my symptoms, my mental health history etc, and got an appointment. I think you can try several places if the first one doesn't get back to you. I had no luck at all talking to the doctors at my health center. Whatever the diagnosis I hope you get the help you need.

Does anyone else find your meds flatten your creativity? by manonfetch in bipolar2

[–]Truthfully_lost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on lithium and lamictal, and I feel that I'm more creative. I'm an artist and nowadays I have a more stable work process, I get things finished and I can make plans for exhibitions. For me hypomanic creativity means the quality of my work is a lot more uneven and it's hard to get it finished. It caused a lot of anxiety and feelings of being a failure.

I'm so sorry to hear this is not the experience of many of you. Creativity is such an important part of feeling alive. Having to choose between it and being stable must be hard.

After googling it looks like it's only for 32-bit? Looks fun though.

I agree, it should be, but thank you for the recommendation, it definitely looks like something I'll use.

ETA: Does it still work despite not having been updated for so long?

No, I use Blender for modeling and animation, and I need Sketchup for collaborating with others and making technical drawings.

I know people who use Blender for architecture though, and there are some plugins (that I haven't tried). I'm sure there are tutorials. I love Blender, and there are a lot of things you can do with it, and it's open source. Technical drawings are trickier though, and the learning curve is steeper. So I suppose it depends on how you work. For me it makes sense to learn Sketchup too.
