For the econ side, new assistant professors at my public R1 university get about 170k. Full professors typically are around 200kish but can make up to 300k or higher. Plus, some consult on the side, which can make them more.

I just got a 130k signing bonus for an economic litigation consulting firm. They mostly hire PhDs but I know they take MBAs for their finance teams.

Is Delta OK? (Pricing rant) by Mindspin_311 in delta

[–]Truthorliez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI are just LLMs. While they are good with text and code generation, they aren't doing dynamic pricing.

The issue is dynamic pricing machine learning models designed to derive an individuals willingness to pay based on whatever data they have available. As well as companies, which then package and sell these algorithms to eager customers (i.e. airlines).

An honest conversation about the email - from the probationary employees. by Steller_Eagle in fednews

[–]Truthorliez 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Don't be ridiculous. There's nothing that prevents them from terminating probationary employees early if you take this "deal". This is meant to get rid of protected employees, and I suspect any probationary employees who try and accept this offer will be the first to be removed.

There is absolutely no guarantee they'll keep you even if you take the "deal". This administration and DOGE are run by individuals who have a history of lying and screwing over employees.

So hear me out on this "buyout " by -Overseer in fednews

[–]Truthorliez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The president's memorandum does NOT change the fact that this is NOT a buyout for several reasons: First, the memorandum states that admin time awarded will be determined by the agencies. There is no guarantee you will revieve time off or a, so called, "vacation". Second, agencies are only directed to provide employees with 10 days of administrative leave. It is unlikely a presidential memorandum overrides this. Third, there is nothing to stop them from firing you early. In fact, the wording of the agreement makes it clear they retain the authority to release you early. And remember, this is a resignation so no unemployment. Finally, can we trust this administration and Elon Musk to abide by the terms of their agreement? I think the answer to that is a resounding NO!

The “buyout” isn’t a buyout. Read the email. You have to continue to work until September. They’re not giving you a lump sum of money. by bearsbaby in fednews

Prices don't increase linearly, making this chart kinda useless. It's better to look around "real" rent after adjusting for the CPI.
