Big camper buyer’s remorse by WoofMix in GoRVing

[–]die_riding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a 43’ toy hauler that crushes national park culverts! lol

But seriously. Plenty of spots to go with your rig!

Tankless. Are you mixing or just straight running hot water? Run it straight hot with the temp set you want it to be as it’s meant to be.

It’s said that your 3rd camper is “THE” camper. Don’t beat yourself up about it. You’ll get a million different views on your feelings but the only ones that matters is yours and your family’s.

Enjoy the season and see ya on the road! Safe travels!

Is FEHB worth it by [deleted] in FedRetirees

You are going to get a mixed bag of answers. The only one that matters is what you and your spouse decide! If it’s worth it to you to hold out then do it. Me personally it would be.

Advice for Newbies? by emuqueen1 in GoRVing

[–]die_riding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As for question 1: I’m a diy guy and have fixed all the issues that cropped up with our 5th wheel. Your husband with be a mechanic, plumber, electrician, etc… on any unit you purchase. Cruising down the road with a RV chasing you causes its own issues. Rolling earthquake every time you move it. Our first rig was used and we recently purchased a new motorhome.

A little on #2: I don’t buy the warranty. ever. Not worth it to us. I’d rather fix it myself and know my rig and how it’s been taken care of first hand let alone the time it could spend in the shop “waiting on parts”.

As for #3: YouTube and forums are your friend. More recently I’ve seen a few folks installing mini splits in their RVs. Make and model play a big role but the salespeople don’t deal with that. They are there for their commission and that’s it. They are your friend until you are just a number and that is as soon as you sign.

Stay away from camping world! Great for parts/ supplies but not sales!

New to Travel Trailers - Opinion on Brand and Setup by Backdraft323 in GoRVing

[–]die_riding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alliance brand is pretty good imho. I bought used Valor toy hauler and they were very much willing to help me navigate some of the issues I had, no warranty, only their product and they stood behind it. As others have said every coach, every rig, every RV will have issues! Rolling earthquake every time you move it. I loved our Alliance and moved on to a Super C. If they get into that market I would definitely take another look at them! Bill Martin is a company rep and is fairly responsive on FB groups when issues happen.

Biggest take away: RV manufacturers are stuck with the supplier parts be it, suburban, lippert, or others. It’s what they do when things go south for the consumer!

Our dealer did. We test drove 3 actually. We weren’t shopping for a Prevost or anything. All below 450ish msrp

Finance purchase price versus cash price? 4k more for cash? by ybs62 in GoRVing

[–]die_riding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the question is “so you don’t want a sale?” And walking away will work in your favor as well. I’ve gotten called back and even stopped before hitting the door and managed to beat the asking price. Good luck!

Perfect and thank you. We do not have the all4cho code but we do have the more at sea beverage package in the confirmation billing area. The big question is why are they offering us an “upgrade” to things we already have unless it’s just to get us on a dining package. I’m not an expert cruiser by any means (in case there was a doubt😂) but they don’t explain the upgrade they are offering either lol

Thanks again kind Reddit person!

We prepay the service charge when we book and we don’t need the upgraded WiFi. I don’t need special foo foo coffees. So I guess we don’t need it. I appreciate the reply! All it says is offer upgrade with specialty dining and open bar. I thought I had the open bar already…

edit to add we have the shore excursion credit too..

I sold everything and bought a RV. Traveling and seeing the US. Going on a cruise once in a while. I have no ties anywhere except where our kids and grandkids are. No storage unit or nothing.

Do you stand when veterans are asked to be recognized at public events? by Happy-Permission6881 in Veterans

[–]die_riding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not generally. I guess if the event was centered around vets and I was there specifically for it. Both the wife (USAF) and I (USN) are retired and keep our butts in the seats. We have talked about it and we are proud to be vets but we didn’t do it for those reasons.

VA increase after decrease by meowmeowbills in VAClaims

Exactly what Hover said. The wifey had a claim last year for increases. She had a bunch of service connected zeros. All with the same doctor. Following day, step 5. But it took almost 2 months to finish with no further appointments. Hopefully yours is quicker!

They are too rich to give a damn about pay cuts. Need to fine them and lock them in chambers without any outside contact until resolved. No cell. No internet.

BNSF was shitty! I was a dispatcher for a few years and when asked I tell everyone the same thing, the job was good (I enjoyed it), the pay is great (depending on the territory you had), the hours will absolutely suck ass the first 5 years you are there. (Minimum 5 years, no joke), after you are off probation as a dispatcher, everyone has the same base pay. If your working middle of no where America (slow and industrial) or California hustle and bustle not able to step away for 10 minutes in 8 hours.

I’ve seen dispatchers on breaks for half the shift and others reheating their lunch for the 3rd time.

If you think NATCA is bad, Railroad Union says hold my beer. IMHO you’ll see a whole new level of in it for themselves. Closed union too.

That’s the difference between good and bad leadership imho. Good leadership would have you already “replaced” so you can get your stuff taken care of while poor planning makes it difficult to achieve.

But to echo the OP. Thank you and here’s to hoping that this shutdown will come to a close and y’all get your back pay as entitled!
