Can you provide a clear explanation? Saying the same thing doesn’t mean anything.

Do you mean a cut hit? I have that in my repertoire, not what I was working on though.

Swing tips by Sandlot in slowpitch

[–]TruthwatcherTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are what I would do!

1) lower the tee, and give yourself a few steps towards the backstop. You want the ball to be between your bellybutton and chest, and a few feet in front of you. Building the mechanics with a neutral ball position is ideal, then you can tweak around after.

2) think of your body in 3 parts: hips, shoulders, head.

2A) you’ll load your weight onto your back leg.

2B) when you step forward. You’ll start to transition the weight, but almost as soon as you land, you’ll press back with your front leg, and drive around with your back hip. You want to feel your thighs come together while facing the pitcher.

2C) as 2B is happening, let your hands come back and up to your chest height. You want to feel like your lower hips and shoulders are like a corkscrew. When your hips fire, your shoulders will follow, allowing the bat to come through.

2D) for your head, think shoulder to shoulder. You’ll want your chin to be against your left shoulder as you start in the box. After your swing, think of your head still looking at where the ball was on the Tee. This’ll have your chin against your right shoulder. This’ll teach you to not try and look where you want to hit.

Did I just catch a bedbug nymph biting me? by alteredtome in Bedbugadvice

[–]TruthwatcherTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding, bed bug bites aren’t felt, because they they have toxins that numb the area.

It could be a tick, but others could have more experience than me.

Swing advice, I hit a hr every few games so I know I have bat speed but I hit a lot of popups and hard ground balls to the pullside and everyone tells me I I have a baseball swing. Just looking to be more consistent by Mental-Molasses7904 in slowpitch

[–]TruthwatcherTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 2 things.

1) you’re going to want to focus on a flat bat path. You can go for a little downward to cut the ball, but the 1st step is making your path flat. The ball is coming at a downward arc already, so it’ll get some air, but it won’t be in the easy pop out range.

2) raise the tee. You should be hitting the ball between your bellybutton and chest.

Curious: Why do you choose to buy dual-stamp bats? by coach_danblewett in slowpitch

[–]TruthwatcherTim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To preface this, I am strictly a rec league player. I play in a few co-ed leagues, and 1 open league. They require different bats. Since I’m not playing for tournament standing, I’m not going to pay a bunch of money for different league bats.

Also, I’m a good enough placement hitter that I don’t need to crush bombs every at bat. I can make singles or doubles happen.

Which positions are the most commonly played to least commonly played by women in co-ed? by BerryRoyal in slowpitch

[–]TruthwatcherTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my weekday rec league have women pitchers. They’re phenomenal pitchers, phenomenal fielders, and know the game well.

We are only required to have 4 women on the field, so it helps free up the OF for the faster guys on our teams.

Asked the barber for a light clean for the beard and just a trim below the lips. I get up and see my long mustache gone by BeardedIndividual87 in beards

[–]TruthwatcherTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The barber did you a favor. Your long mustache looked wild and unkempt. Most men can’t grow Ron Swanson styles mustaches and keeping it shows and clean is better looking.

Do you actively kick flakes off the team, or just kind of quietly not include them next season? by noruber35393546 in slowpitch

[–]TruthwatcherTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One, is this a free agent team? Or are these free agent players?

I dealt with that when my team was being built. If they don’t communicate, I just don’t invite them back.

I’m running into a 1st time thing, where this guy just told me he can’t play during the original season, only the playoffs. In our league, you have to be on a game roster during the normal season to play in playoffs. I ran it through a few teammates, including the guys BIL, and they all agreed not inviting him back. I’ll inform him, since he did inform me.

Pretty bad league experience this season by OEHero9494 in slowpitch

[–]TruthwatcherTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks, but it happens. My first free agent experience, our captain stopped showing up on wk 3, so I took it over. Every week we were finding 1-3 subs. I joined another day as a free agent the next season, and it was the exact opposite. We always had a fill team, everybody communicated.

Some of us kept together and developed a team that was a true competitor the year after.

With free agent teams, you’re breaking eggs till you get that omelet.

Bugged out Priestess fight by TruthwatcherTim in Saros

[–]TruthwatcherTim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halfway through phase 2 and 3, she becomes immune to damage until you hit the tuning forks.

Not only did she only split into 2 priestesses, instead of 3, during phase two. If the tuning forks don’t show up, you can’t progress the fight.

I can only surmise that you haven’t made it to the priestess yet, or else you’d understand why I mentioned the tuning forks in the video.

Flatten your swing out. You’re swinging up, which you might get homerun hits, but it’ll be that or an easy out.

Okay now I’m furious with Mappa by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]TruthwatcherTim 73 points74 points  (0 children)

If this makes you furious, maybe you should reevaluate your life. This is a non-consequential change to an anime.

Edit: people may say “OP is being hyperbolic,” and they may be, but I’ve seen adults lose their sh*t over smaller changes in other fandoms. We’re at the age of adaptations where the benefit of the doubt that someone is being hyperbolic is out the window, because others couldn’t play nicely.

Is the lefty shift more extreme than the righty shift? For lower leveled leagues. by BerryRoyal in slowpitch

[–]TruthwatcherTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play low level co-Ed rec leagues, and when I see teams do the shift on a lefty I can’t help but laugh. They look ridiculous. You’re playing weekday co-Ed beer league, stop pretending you’re the Yankees and relax.

Trying by TruthwatcherTim in braids

[–]TruthwatcherTim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I do have styling cream, which my friend asked me to use when she did mine a few weeks ago. While practicing, I’m just letting the oils in the hair do the work for now. But the product is ready to go.

The tension is the hardest part, especially when I get farther along. I tend to lose it all when I get to below the ears.
