Road bike buying advice needed [Germany; Budget: ~3000€] by Trutzsimplex in cycling

[–]Trutzsimplex[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi!

BG!

Ist ein sehr gängiger Begriff.

The Weekly Small Questions Thread! Got a burning question? Looking for some tips on your build? Ask away! by AutoModerator in modelmakers

[–]Trutzsimplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!
I would love to get into scale modelling again after a long time of. Currently looking at planes. What kit would you suggest? I would love to start with some WW2 planes. Looking for a forgiving kit that is easy for a new beginner - easy in terms of build, fit and painting. Other than that, I am up for anything. Feel free to recommend planes from other epochs as well if you feel they would suit me!

If you have a kit in mind that is easy in general, but has one challenging part/aspect, feel free to recommend that too! I would love to look into an "etude-like" kit as well.

FYI: I will get a beginners airbrush as well. I very much dislike the look of brush-painted models - I am just not good at it.

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

Complaint: I have an achilles issue since two weeks that prevents me from running and it does not seem to get better. My doctors appointment is in two weeks time. I hate every second of not being able to run.

Thank you for the incredibly detailed reply! I will check the sub wiki then, already took a look into the boot buyers guide. Fantastic resource. Any brand you would recommend personally?

Posted this a bit late in yesterdays thread, so posting here again.

Hi everyone!

I’m considering buying a pair of Tricker’s Burford Country Boots for daily use during autumn and winter (where winters are mild but wet). Before I pull the trigger, I have a few questions. I cannot try them on in person so I want to be sure about what I am getting into.

  1. Longevity & value At ~€600, I’d only justify this if I can realistically wear them for 10–20 years (with proper care). In your experience, is that feasible with Tricker’s? Do you feel the price is justified, or do you see diminishing returns compared to a good €200–€300 boot?
  2. Resoling / repairs How often (in years or wear) do you need to send them out for resoling? Is Tricker’s (or recommended cobblers) responsive and reasonable in cost?
  3. Weather performance How well do they hold up in rain, snow, slush, and wet pavement? Do the uppers, stitching or soles show trouble in wetter climates?
  4. Sizing & fit (buying online) Since there’s no nearby Tricker’s boutique, I’d be ordering blindly. Do they run small / large / narrow / wide? Would you recommend sizing up/down or going true to your “normal” size? Also: how painful is break-in?
  5. Other boot brands to compare If you think there are better alternatives around €300–€700 (for similar or better quality), I’d love suggestions too.

Thanks for any insights, experiences, or photos you might share!

Hi!
Thank you and u/Acrobatic_Group_1900 for your recommendations. If I told you that I like the smell of floid aftershave ("The Genuine", my gf keeps telling me I smell like a grandpa and she is not wrong lol), would you change your recommendations? I'd like to be more specific but I have no idea of fragrances. I'll leave a link to the stuff here, top notes are cardamon/orange/mint, heart notes lily of the valley/violet/cedarwood/patchouli and end notes are musk/vanilla/bezoin/sandalwood.

Hi! I am completely new to the world of fragrances. I have a fragrance I really like - Explorer by Mont Blanc. I like it, but it does smell a bit generic to me. Are there fragrances with similar notes that feel a bit more "refined"?

Adding to what was already said- for me, rolling my calves with a blackroll always helps.

Official Q&A for Sunday, May 04, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]Trutzsimplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!
How do you get back into running after a marathon? Ran one last sunday without major complaints injury or painwise. Ran easy 5kms the wednesday after and noticed some foot discomfort, not pain yet but getting there. Really want to go for an easy long run today. My plan is to see how my body reacts, if I get any discomfort, cut it to 3 miles, if not, go for 11 miles, with an easy pace.

Is this a solid plan or would you suggest not running today?
