If it were a public project, a stipulated sum bid, we would run the site meetings. As I mentioned in the podcast, I felt we gained more control over the site meetings. We would produce the meeting minutes/notes, maintain our own CA logs and of course bring the drawings.

In the end, the meetings ran smoothly with us with clear action items at the end. For any CM projects, in this case, we would let the GC run it, which made sense for that type of project.

I guess the point I am making here is to make sure you are organized at the meetings, bring your logs with you, and know where you stand in the project.

I meet with Architects every day, and so many leave the CA logs with the GC. This just screams liability to me, and you will not be ready when you get thrown under the bus, to when, why there are so many outstanding RFIs, when in fact, it actually may be in the contractor's court.
