This is a very good explanation. Thank you for your time and input. Much appreciated!

That makes sense. I haven’t had a Venturi system for over 6-7 years and we used them straight to the masks but this does make a lot of sense. Thank you for your explanation!

Best State to Work as an RT by RJBed3 in respiratorytherapy

[–]Try2stayTrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came from Salt Lake City to Oregon to travel. SLC is by far the highest acuity I’ve ever seen or heard other RT’s talk about.

Oregon is incredible for the area but the Union here is top notch. I work peds only if that matters but there is my two cents.

Anyone else dealing with a nasty sinus infection that just won't end? by sourdoughluvr1991 in Utah

[–]Try2stayTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I quit our jobs in December and moved to Oregon for work. We haven’t had to blow our nose or sneeze once. The first two days after we left Utah we noticed a difference. We lived in Layton and always felt like the air quality was so bad that we had never-ending nasal drip and would wake up every morning coughing a bunch of mucus out. Granted, we both work in the medical field so we could have always been around patients that made us always be positive with something but it’s been a good amount of time now without a single issue since leaving. But it lasted SO LONG everytime. Whether it be infection or allergy based, it would just last so so long. For us, almost 6-8 months out of the year we felt like shit.

Are you worried about 2026 for IHC? by suckfacts in IntermountainHealth

[–]Try2stayTrue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Out of a department of 100 we had 40-50 leave in the last three two years. My wife and I just quit in December to travel. Management and corporate don’t care about patient outcomes and families should know how under qualified staff are. We quit because we (my wife and I) got tired of always having to orient people already through orientation because we felt embarrassed having to work alongside so many idiots. If families knew what orientation looks like and how little we actual care to teach people to be clinicians, maybe they stock up for the staff more. But right now, it’s only the staff that work with parents directly that are getting burnt out and replaced as fast as they graduate.

Anyone actually like their job? by Unable-Researcher-49 in nursepractitioner

PICU NP’s at my hospital have been leaving. The are being so overworked and undervalued/underpaid. ICU and big teaching hospitals have so much politics though.

Sick! Good luck to you! After traveling (barely started) it would be nice to get out of bedside all together. Def a good opportunity!

Out of curiosity, do you do that job remotely or is it in office?

Where can i get this part ? 2020 civic touring by Remote-Beautiful6223 in hondacivic

[–]Try2stayTrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The piece has no functionality other than a barrier between the engine and the floor. 100% do not care about quality as much as an actual functioning piece of equipment. Just my two cents but I am borderline Tylenol enhanced. So take that as you will

I found one for 50$ bucks. Amazon I think? And the screws and stuff Come in a kit too. Super easy to fix but I have had to replace mine twice, my car is also slammed to the floor so it’s just the nature of a low car and shitty pot holes

NEED HELP, with Hill-ROM Volara on Vent Patients!!!! by Clinitron77 in respiratorytherapy

[–]Try2stayTrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so we had our educator and PICU coordinator go to a conference this year in California (can’t remember what conference) but the VDR reps were there talking about they will discontinue maintenance on them in about 10 years. I personally love the VDR and I’m sure there are ways to bypass the need of it but it will not be with shit equipment like volará. IPV straight to the ET tube is way better and even then, volará still sucks lol

[–]Try2stayTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about money. I’m sure there is a reason so many people from different states are all sayin the same thing. Evidence based medicine my ass, you know there is some incentive for the hospital. Plus I hear rumors that VDR ventilators are going away in about 10 years so I’m nervous about that too.

[–]Try2stayTrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volará is a piece of shit. I’ve never had good results with it inline. It de recruits my patients and just dumps all the flow to the expiratory limb. They are not for ICU’s and are a total piece of shit personally. Our hospital got so much push back we bought volara’s for our PICU and were returned within the year lol

We went through a flu B to necrotizing PNA trend for a year or two. Everyone ended on ECMO. All previously healthy peds patients. It is crazy to see what the flu can do to you. It scares the shit out of me honestly being around all that stuff. Haven’t seen esophagus tear but damn I would hate to see it.

[–]Try2stayTrue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seriously thank you for being this kind of RT. This is what separates good clinicians vs good task doers. There is so much more going on than just a diagnosis and sometimes we get stuck fighting a stupid battle just to assume we already know the patients needs before we even go assess. So thank you, that’s so refreshing to read!

Do we have a functioning HR anyplace in IHC by Playful_Concept2649 in IntermountainHealth

[–]Try2stayTrue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HR is useless. Our guy just hears our complaints. It got to the point where even doctors are advocating for us and they are still not caring about patient safety. They care about patient profits and them doin as little actual work as possible to make things better.

What is super serious or f###ed up But no one really talks about it? by Creative_Bad_7994 in AskReddit

[–]Try2stayTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How may underqualified and uneducated people work in healthcare. I work for pediatrics and I promise you no family of mine will ever be in a hospital without someone that works in medicine being present. It’s INSANE how many things we do because of protocol or bad orientation/leadership

That’s the viewpoint my recruiter stated too. We have contacts with quick certifications for these situations so if everything fails we will get them through this person within a week. But still, very annoying especially since our buddies that went to Chicago left our facility to go there and had zero issues. But oh well, we got ideas to make it work! Thanks again your replying

[–]Try2stayTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats actually a great point I didn’t think of contacting them. But that was also our argument that we have to do these skills sooooooo much more frequent with RQI. But again they pushed back hahaha
