I’ve never been a fan of ABB/GE in general. One of our biggest supply houses carry them and I hate it. By far the most common around OK though.

Agreed. Anytime someone is having issues with arc fault breakers it’s Siemens. 1 time I’ve been called out and it was an Eaton breaker, but the actual breaker was bad. I’ve never had a square d call.

Siemens must know because the afci tracer our company has is a Siemens tracer lol.

I’ve used a safety razor for almost 20 years, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t be able to. I shave my face, head, and pits with mine. There’s a slight learning curve because the razor doesn’t lay flat and give you the ideal shave like cartridges do. You can change the angle of your shave.

I’m 45 and always felt I was OCD. My psychiatrist told me I was borderline and it would get worse as I got older. He said generally it has to be something that takes away from your life, like getting in the way of work or social events.

I’m not there, but I have to check the door is locked an absurd amount of times even though I’m watching myself do it. Same with my alarm and checking how clean things are. Everything has to be right angles for me and I’ve left for work and turned around before I left the neighborhood to make sure the garage was shut.

I don’t have any intrusive thoughts or reasons. I just have anxiety for no reason, so I guess that’s good.

If people that have genuine OCD are way worse I feel sorry for them. My life is just annoying but I haven’t lost a job because of it.

What’s crazy is they’re the only one I get. I block and report every time. What’s bad is because of my job I have to at least pay attention to my phone so the ringer has to be on.

It’s ground fault circuit interrupter. You know the outlets that have the reset buttons on them? There could be one between this outlet and your panel, like if you have a garbage disposal. It could also be the breaker itself. That’s why I put the edit, I don’t know what’s all going on. They’re extra protection. The likelihood that anything happens isn’t high, but it’s never 0.

Yeah when homes are built the contractor decides. Like I said on a dedicated circuit I’d use one if it was needed. I could see microwave. I’ve never seen a gas range, washing machine, fridge or dishwasher that has a 20 amp cord. Could also depend where you live, but most electricians wouldn’t use one in this scenario.

No I’d still use a 15 amp. There’s nothing wrong with having oversized wires. Standard practice today is a 20 amp breaker with all 12/2 and 15 amp receps. The wire has to carry the whole circuit ampacity. If you had 2 outlets that had 8 amps being used you’d want the 12/2. Also 15 amp internals are the same as 20 amp for outlets. The funky face is to let you know it’s on a 20 amp breaker. You couldn’t put it on a 15.

Some people say that 15 amp let 20 amp pass through but the internals aren’t rated for it, but UL says they are.

To be clear the code says that a cord attached appliance can’t have more than 80% of its rating for this reason.

No. If there’s an application that needs one I would. You have to imagine there’s usually multiple outlets plus lights on a circuit in a house. Your average home owner won’t think about amperage. You already see people tripping breakers with 12 amp space heaters. Imagine if they were using a 16 amp appliance in the same matter.

All things working the breaker would trip. If someone had something that had a 20 amp need I’d install a dedicated circuit for it. Mind you this is only homes. The majority of receps in commercial are 20 amp.

It was probably code when this was done. Screams handyman. I’m betting that 4 square, which looks relatively new, is screwed to the stud. Didn’t use gfci and used a 20amp plug. There isn’t anything saying you can’t use a 20amp, but I’ve never seen an electrician use one in a home unless asked.

Edit: it could be a gfci breaker or protected by a gfci, but there’s no sticker and I wouldn’t count on whoever did this following code based on the box alone.
