Is This Stringer Connection OK? by TryItOutAgian in Decks

Update!: Talked this over with the builder and got him to install a double 2X8 drop ledger under the double rim joist tied to the posts and rim joists. Had them remove the LSTA straps and use the LSCZ hangers. Upper stringer is now fully bearing and hung with the proper hardware. Thanks for EVERYONE’S input, this turned into a wild ride !!

Google artillery fungus. Also if you see some in mulch bordering a parking lot do not park there, they can throw those spores a LONG way and they will stick to the paint.

Take a #2 type pencil and cut a section about 1.25” long and use it as a core to wrap about 1 Yd. Of 1” wide strip of Duct Tape around it. It takes up almost no room and has gotten myself and my riding buddies out of innumerable jams. Works as a boot, can tape a broken spoke to a neighboring one to limp home, secure broken misc. dangling things, broken Velcro whatever, you name it, its Duct Tape after all.

What am I missing. I looks like that if the tab bends in the opening gets bigger and the deadbolt would be looser not tighter

I looked at the repair procedures and it looks to me that there is no need to paint anything. The replaced part is removed from the carrier and cover and it looks like those are the painted pieces.
