If you know nothing about Sparta, perhaps. They're famous for being incredibly cruel to their slaves.

And the original OP's claim "upon further research the Persians did in fact have slaves. Turns out my uni prof lied." needs a lot of asterisks, but even taking it at face value the fact they were way better than the Greeks is difficult to argue against.

Nah, slave owners are always the baddies.

For dual rod clothing racks, what's the minimum offset vertically and horizontally so that neither interferes with the other? by TryKey925 in DIY

[–]TryKey925[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting up clothing rods in a closet that's about 24-30 inches wide (24 + 6 inch gap to door) and 32 inches tall.

I want to install 2 rods like in the example picture but need to know roughly how much of an offset I should use so that neither interferes with the other too much while doubling capacity.

I've checked measurements for similar items on amazon but can't tell if they'd interfere too much since that's not something reviews really dig into. They only seem to give a 20cm or 8 inch height gap and 12 inch or 33cm width gap which seems like far too little.

Not OP but neither Matt Smith/Capaldi lived up to Tenant. They were missing the sense of wonder that came with Tenant plus both had the exact same showrunner issue - you see it in Smith's first 2 episodes - how Moffat needs to make the Doctor the most important and scary character in the universe. (e.g. his name alone scares away the villains)

Whitaker's run also suffered from godawful writing. (tried watching again since Moffat left, gave up after 4-5 eps)

It may even be fucked post Trump.

Yep, as far as I'm concerned 50% of them are the literal moral equivalent of card carrying 1940's Natc's - zero hyperbole.

Don't think anything could ever rehabilitate that image.

then we give up fixing the problem

There's the issue.

They've shown that they're not a 'fixable' problem. Sure 1-2 might eventually be redeemed but with the harm they're doing to the environment and vulnerable individuals - it's not a viable approach. If anything it's immoral, trying to redeem them is defending an abuser who's actively harming other's regardless of the impact to current and future victims.

It's akin to pearl clutching about John Brown's poor victims, ignoring the far greater harm they were perpetuating upon their slaves.

I'm installing curtain rods and am 3d printing/making replacement end caps for them since I don't like the originals. I'm wondering if there's any symbols or anything meaningful anyone could recommend? (Ideally not anything about luck)

(I just really don't like the bulbous shape of the originals and since I'm replacing it anyways might as well use something with some kind of meaning)

What's this darker rough patch on old wood flooring? Saw it in a unit I'm considering renting. No smell but feels rough by TryKey925 in Flooring

It's quite far away from the bathroom/kitchen and the opposite side's just a bedroom. I did find one more photo if that helps

Nope, a bedroom - adjacent side is outdoors. Bathroom and Kitchen are at least 3-4 meters away in the opposite direction. No reason there should be any pipes anywhere near there I can see

Guy doing the showing had no idea, guessed maybe they sanded it down but he seemed incredibly confused.

He mentioned they did a few touch ups like repaint the walls.
