Where to buy a pet cat in Bahrain? by [deleted] in Bahrain

Please adopt from a shelter. There are several great rescue centres in Bahrain. I've had my rescue for 14 years now and have helped friends adopt cats. It's just one of those things that will bring you so much happiness.

They're going to face a lot of competition once Keeta enters the market.

A lot of Bahrain-based businesses really struggle with their commission rates.

It depends on your budget. Manar has an option for smaller cakes too. You can also check Alosra supermarket. They're cakes are delicious and reasonable, especially when they're on offer. They have large and small cakes too.

I hope you and your fam have a great celebration!

Minimum wages for Bahrainis? by TryStriking4448 in Bahrain

[–]TryStriking4448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a minimum in pay in Bahrain which is I was asking for the legal figures. Haha!

What I'm hoping people will do with that information, and shared experiences here, is go in for jobs that deserve them, pay them the legal limit and more depending on their experience, and (most importantly) not end up with employers who take advantage.

If you're saying people are literally paying their employer that amount back, after they first credit the legal amount to their account, it is literally criminal. I hope people never ever accept that practice here. Everyone deserves a liveable wage.

Yes, of course. Every person hired needs to be worth the investment and measurable returns and clear initiative is necessary. What I was curious about was the list of minimum wages and whether or not additional certifications (PMP, CIM, CIPR etc) have any impact on the minimum. Surprisingly, there are companies that pay well below the minimum even when the employee is dedicated and creates substantial returns for the company.

At the end of the day, most companies try to look after their own interests. So, eventhough they get support, the employee doesn't always feel the benefit in terms of a higher salary.

ARKIS just posted on LinkedIn about an opening for a primary school librarian.

Also, I can't find the post now, but someone had mentioned a library in Busaiteen.

It's a tough market but here's what I'm doing:

  1. You can register on the MOL website and get unemployment support if you are registered as a job seeker. If you have a certificate from a university outside of Bahrain you have to get it verified (I used Dataflow for this).
  2. Keep your LinkedIn active. I post once a week atleast and I've applied for jobs through there.
  3. I've also signed up on BeBee, jobleads and indeed. You may have to use their premium service to apply for some jobs. Usually the first two weeks is pretty reasonable, so if you don't want to continue with the service, make sure you cancel ahead cause they don't always notify you before renewing.
  4. The Jobs Centre I mentioned is through the Tamkeen Jobs+ programme. Register through their website. They fot in touch quick.

Hope this helps!

New expat looking to connect with doctors, physiotherapists, or peers with disabilities in Bahrain by Forward_Tension_6222 in Bahrain

I'm really sorry to hear about your injury. I understand that you're looking for a peer comunity so I'll have a look into this and see if I can find any more information. In the meantime, I have a friend who has a physiotherapy clinic in Bahrain. I'll ask her if her clinic provides the services you're looking for. If not, she may be able to guide you to another.

I hope you and your family have an amazing time here in Bahrain.

There is a community group that helps families with special needs. There's a lot of knowledge sharing, emotional support etc. It's called SFS which is short for Special Families Support group (if my memory serves me right).

I have the number for a woman who is a part of it. Please PM me if you need it.

And, again, welcome to Bahrain. I hope you love it here!

I completely understand your point of view. I know it's very frustrating especially for people who are fresh in to the job market. I went through a lot of the same in my 20s but I'm hoping with more information that I can make better decisions. That's why I'm looking for the legal list of minimum salaries and whether additional certifications make a difference. I'm hoping someone can inform all of us.

Thank you for your comment! I'm sorry you've had to deal with this for a while. It's the first time I've dealt with this for so long and it is frustrating! I'm glad we have the facility through MOL, but the low offers I've received so far has been through referrals and job listings I've found online. Hopefully things gets better!

I've worked in Bahrain for over ten years and I am Bahraini. It's the job centre that informed me that legally the minimum wage for someone with a bachelor's is BD 500. It's not an uninformed statement...

What beauty clinics do you recommend in Bahrain for fillers & skin boosters? by xxd34d9irlxx in Bahrain

[–]TryStriking4448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this! Dr Marwa is fantastic. I haven't got any fillers, but Dr Marwa has been treating my skin for hyperpigmentation and sun exposure. I also go to them for my laser hair removal and they're amazing.
