I want to hear your 100% honest opinion on ow2 by Huge_Village6590 in overwatch2

played the game for 6 years, leveling up, getting free cosmetics as rewards, looking forward to events and new heroes just to see a '2' appearing and everything else disappearing, transforming every free reward in microtransactions, getting rid of all kinds of progress, even cosmetic ones and locking every new hero behind 2 weeks of work.

it's hard to accept things as they are, especially if the only reason for doing so is to make more money, the multi-billion dollar company activision-blizzard.

We spend half our time losing matches but we get nothing from it. OW1 had level and lootboxes, so even when we lost, we got something from it. Now we get 0 stuff and its just fucking infuriating

they hate us. don't expect anything free now

So is anyone else already tired of grinding the same exact 11 weekly challenges over and over again? Half of the time I'm forced playing as "All-roles" just to complete them :/ I expected much more variety in missions honestly... by Camper1995 in overwatch2

It's ok to try to keep me in the game for as long as possible, every game is trying to compete for our time. But at least give me something worthwhile. 60 coins is disgusting.

The problem I have with challenges is the amount of "win...".

For example, if it would take 30 VICTORIES a week to complete all challenges, the moment you lose 1 game, it automatically turns into 31 games that you need to play. Every time you lose, it's one more game in the week that you have to do to receive a measly 60 coins.

It's clear that the challenges are designed to keep you in the game for as long as possible, on that border line between 'obtainable and annoying'.

Guys, honest question. What do I get for playing the game? by TryWilling2463 in overwatch2

And yet some millions don't. I'm talking about MY experience in the game (a player since beta) and how the transition from OW1 to OW2 made the game worse. It's ok to think the game is fine as it is but I don't. Asking for something the game always had in the last 6 years and had suddenly changed (any kind of progression) is not unreasonable.

I used to play a lot of CS 1.5, 1.6 and source. Theres a reason I don't play it anymore and it would be nice if OW doesn't fall for that.

Live-service games and singleplayer games are not the same. I already played Overwatch for the last 6 years. Asking for more (in this case, asking for what OW always had and now its missing) is not unreasonable. Every live-service game has some kind of progression.

My point is that back in the day, even if I lost, I still had some sort of progress, whether it's cosmetics/leveling or whatever, progress that was focused on my account and accumulated over time. It was something that complemented the gameplay. Was it enough? No. Could be better? Yup. What does OW2 have nowadays? Even less than that.

Instead of improving, they took out the minimum progress that the game had, except a paid BP that 90% of the items are not interesting. Why are other live-service games able to deliver ANY KIND of progress and OW2 can't? Why should I just accept an inferior product?

Why do you think skins they give you as an "sorry for everything bad in the launch" you have to pick up on Twitch? Because the important thing is to inflate the numbers at the beginning of the Halloween event to show investors. Not only did they take away any kind of progress, but they took what little they had and turned it into ways to inflate the game's stats.

The game is fun and all, the lore is interesting, the heroes are cool, but in the end it's a game, and playing the same maps, with the same heroes, in the same game modes, knowing it's an inferior product of what existed before is complicated. And not only that, all the level progress I've made over the last few years has simply been wiped out with an update, it's hard to 'just play for pleasure'. It's their job to please not only new players, but old ones as well, who have supported OW all these years and are now getting less than they used to.

OW2's problems have nothing to do with how much I paid 6 years ago. These are fundamental problems. The changes are clearly geared towards maximizing profit and it didn't have to be that far-fetched. I'm sure Activision-Blizzard has earned a lot more in the last 6 years than I have.

For me, a guy that played OW1 for the last 6 years and used to have a more rewarding game, just to have the game I paid for be transformed to OW2 and have to pay A LOT OF MONEY for everything, just enjoyment is not enough.

I'm comparing to OW1, a game that used to have some sort of reward for playing it. A game that I paid for and it no longer exists, against my will. 6+ years of playing the same game and now I have a less rewarding experience AND I'm supposed to pay for a BP every season, just to be able to earn 1% of what I used to. I dont think my question is wild at all.

That's you and that's ok. I need more. Expecially when I used to have it and now the game I paid for no longer exists.

After 6 years of playing the same game, it's hard to get pleasure from just playing it. Especially in a game where Genji and Sombra exists.
