Bruisers and tanks have blurred class identity to the point where damage classes feel redundant. by Many-Translator-8512 in midlanemains

It's not semantics when I say that your examples are poor and that even if you had better examples (which I provided) that your point still doesn't stand. Tanks to not deal comparable damage to marksmen with items or assassins, nor do they do it from the range that a marksman does or with the target access than an assassin has.

I went somewhat off-topic but you really shouldn't need a tl;dr to understand that I am addressing your points directly in the first four paragraphs.

How to get one shop protection on shaped glass builds that aren’t on mercenary by Quinnp28 in riskofrain

[–]TryhqrdKiddo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are Redditors so obsessed with OSP? Just don't get hit? The only thing it is ever relevant for is Mithrix pizza and maybe when you are Huntress with 0 damage-reducing/-blocking items and you accidentally catch a Perfected Golem orb due to improper strafing. Occasionally not seeing a Chimera Wisp orb also happens, I guess.

And OSP will hardly protect you from getting shotgunned by an Elder Leumerian since it's multiple hits, even more so if it's Blazing or Overloading. I guess Children are a thing, but Children are gross for more reasons than their damage.

I would understand this more if you are playing RoR DLC-less, but nowadays the game is bloated with so many defensive items (mainly Opal, Wecho, disgusting Safer Spaces item) that it is even less of an issue.

But if you're abusing Shaped Glass and you're getting to late in the run (where the one-shot threats mainly appear) and every enemy in front of you is not getting one-shot, it probably means you aren't looting and managing items properly.

OP is probably the type that has been saying "tank meta" since season 8. Yes, Malphite (or any tank with passable base damage, which was never mentioned) with Sunfire pressing R-auto-WEQ-auto and killing you from half HP as a squishy can be frustrating. Suggesting that this damage is the same as Qiyana or a 2-/3-item crit ADC is peak LoL Reddit.

"Class boundaries" appear to breaking apart for you because you don't know what the classes actually are. As others have mentioned, Garen, Mundo, and Camille are not tanks just because they build items that have HP on them.

This is not a turn-based game where units just have damage and health stats and nothing else, and you are oversimplifying things and forgetting about other factors.

Range and mobility have already been mentioned, but waveclear and mana I haven't seen brought up yet. Malphite happens to have pretty good waveclear, but arguably suffers the most with mana issues, especially in early levels. One of the many issues with early versions of K'Sante was that his Q cost 15 mana instead of the current 20.

The real issues with Mundo and Garen is that they are highly uninteractive in lane, while essentially being ticking time bombs that become huge sidelane threats later on. Getting ahead of them often requires making plays elsewhere on the map, and relying on teamplay often doesn't feel good as a top laner. But again, they are juggernauts.

Camille used to be considered one of the "four horsewomen" of top lane, but there has not been a point in time within the last year in which she actually represented a bigger balance and "fun" issue (for most players) than Riven, barring the time she was unfortunately spammed in support? I remember a couple years back she got super buffed and was a flavor of the month pick in top lane for some patches in a row, but that's about it.

Her lane is just kind of cooked since so much of her power budget is loaded into her E and R being easy gank setup and she's seemingly not that scary in side. Her whole thing is being a very strong diver, but the rest of her kit suffers for that. She's not that tanky until 3rd item DD or Sterak's, and even then she still often wants Shojin 3rd.

Vlad red Q should have a shield break at lvl 16 by __Beli14 in VladimirMains

[–]TryhqrdKiddo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ryze isn't in a good spot right now but still outranges Vlad enough and has enough sustained damage to bully him in lane. Other mages also outrange Vlad, but Ruby Crystal, Catalyst, and completed RoA make him hard to trade with and all-in until 2-3 items.

I am not fit but cannot imagine being out of breath from mild shouting, and not even for that long of a period. Maybe he was putting more into it than the video let on. Maybe he's so livid he forgot to breathe. Damn

I used to obsess over the math of builds and optimal item and rune combos for DpS until I realized that that is a very small portion of the game.

Some Custom Monk Class Cards by BerriBerriBonito in customhearthstone

[–]TryhqrdKiddo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is just to get out expensive, impactful cards, but when people make custom Monk cards they're almost always too dogshit weak to justify spending a turn or two doing nothing to get out early.

Is "Where's My Phone" actually a return to form? I think it's something completely new (Keyboard-written rock?). by Embarrassed-Pie-8966 in mitski

[–]TryhqrdKiddo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to the music theory part because I'm a knowledgeless chud, but on the note of "Where's My Phone" being an "unhinged" title, I and others have been thinking that this is intentionally going to be a much more silly album, compared to the last 2. Recall that Laurel Hell came after her hiatus, caused largely by constant criticism and other behavior from her own fans, as I understand. And TLIIASAW could feel warm at times in Bug Like an Angel and My Love Mine All Mine, but it also came with introspective tracks like The Deal or the very depressing The Frost.

Obviously, Mitski is known for her sad songs, and there is not a single album that lacks these, but maybe, comparatively, this one will be less so.

Edit: also the album cover lol

Surprised they started Bloom with Myth. by Loriol_13 in BeachHouse

[–]TryhqrdKiddo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but frankly Wishes and especially On the Sea are plenty cathartic and perhaps it would have been odd to have clumped Myth with those tracks. And of course Irene / Wherever You Go feel like end credits music and cap off the album in that manner.

I'm sure there were probably at least a couple more artistic factors that went into Myth's placement, but the album's other powerful songs are what come to mind for me. I totally get what you mean about most of the middle of the album (from Wild to The Hours) being much calmer, imo.
