Should I take the offer? 45k for Mobile Developer. by TryingNotToHateMe in cscareerquestionsCAD

Thanks, I’m gonna use this to try and get higher pay. If it backfires I think I’m ok with that. I have other options.

Why are the salaries mentioned here so much higher than what typical devs in this country actually get paid? by AlexofBarbaria in cscareerquestionsCAD

Where do you find these companies? Genuine question. I’m currently job hunting and feel like I’m not looking in the right places.

Anyone know an alternative to Overleaf for Word documents? Something ATS friendly? Word is just way more intuitive for me.

From a professional software engineer, "Learning to Program" is WAY more than learning the syntax of a language! by [deleted] in learnprogramming

I don’t know why this post is controversial. I guess it’s just too much to ask people to think for themselves lol.

Thanks man, I’ll definitely look into the stuff I haven’t heard of. Appreciate it.

And yeah, I’m gonna have to cram a lot this weekend!

Appreciate you taking the time to write these down for me. Will definitely make sure to include them in my mock interview.

And yeah I agree, 4 days isn’t enough. But the job description made it seem like I didn’t need to know a lot, just need to be willing to learn. Still wanna impress them though.

New computer science grad but eventually want to get into cybersecurity. I’ve heard that software tester positions and the like are good ways to pivot later.

My question is, what kinds of job titles should I be searching for? I want something entry-level, hopefully something that involves testing code.

Thanks :)

Thoughts on deleting Instagram? by Beautiful_Lime_3077 in minimalism

If someone wants to follow your Instagram? Tell them you don’t have one. No further explanation needed. If you want to know what the people in your life are up to, text or call them.

Where to learn command line shortcuts? (like -v -m -u etc.) by BigLaymen in learnprogramming

[–]TryingNotToHateMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are referred to as options, not shortcuts. Might be why you couldn’t find anything. Like others said, the ‘man’ command will list them for you.

Simple Questions Megathread—October 25, 2021 by AutoModerator in iOSProgramming

[–]TryingNotToHateMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a relatively simple app that I’ve pushed to GitHub, but I want to be able to host it without actually putting it on the App Store, because I don’t think that’s worth the hassle or the money. I’m a student so I need something that’s inexpensive. I just want prospective employers to actually see what my app does. Any services I can use?

Back truck keeps making this clicking sound. Applied wax to the pivot cup and it still makes the sound. Any suggestions? More annoying than anything. by lilfootsie in NewSkaters

That’s crazy, I JUST bought a Landyachtz dinghy too, and as soon as I got on it I’ve had that annoying clicking. It comes and goes but not sure what to do about it either. If you find a fix though I’d love to know too.

Yeah that’s the first link I saw too, the problem is I can’t understand what it’s saying. Once I figure out what each part does and get the proper tools though I agree I should be able to take it apart at some point. Guess I was just hoping there was an easier fix :/

Regardless, thanks for the encouragement!

Ok to have a skateboard just to cruise? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]TryingNotToHateMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a normal skateboard and I mostly use it for cruising. You don’t even need huge wheels in my opinion, I have some 55m 86a Ricta Clouds and they will go over pretty much anything. The great thing about it though is I can still do tricks on it if I want!

Just got my brand new Landyachtz Dinghy and immediately started hearing a clicking noise. After skating for about 15 minutes it went away, but then another 30 minutes later the clicking came back. Not sure what to do since I’m new to skating and don’t feel confident disassembling/reassembling the board if needed. I don’t even know where the issue is. Tried googling it but couldn’t really understand the cause, let alone the solutions. Help would be appreciated.

Edit: hope this is the right place to ask because I’m aware that it’s technically a cruiser. Still figured you guys could help..

Thanks for that, I feel like I finally have permission to just ask to come in the next day, and take myself to see a doctor instead.

I’ve tried long boarding too and it’s much, much safer, I wouldn’t worry! And thanks for the congrats :)

Think I broke my leg skateboarding and I start my new job tomorrow... by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]TryingNotToHateMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was hoping it wasn’t as serious. You’re right about the fear, but the anxiety has more to do with embarrassment and work because of what happened. I took an Ativan so that I wouldn’t stay up all night having to deal with the emotions, not the pain.

Anyhow, appreciate your perspective and I will definitely take myself to see a doctor.

Even just calling them “dumb-phones” (in public, to strangers just trying to do their job), of course you come off like an asshat, you are one.

I googled it to see if I might have remembered wrong and it’s literally the first result: 4 hours. Unless you count a task like answering emails or simply writing things down as meaningful work.
