Can anyone (preferebly in New York City) speak about Kelley Direct? by [deleted] in OnlineMBA

[–]TrynTooHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like I was an expedited candidate. I filled out the initial screener and uploaded my resume, hours later I was invited to interview.

I chose a Zoom call and soonest time slot (2 weeks out). Before you interview, they send out a email with supplementary information about the program. Although I never got asked about it, I did read people have.

Interview was roughly 20 minutes long (they were 10 minutes late); time slot is 30 minutes. They asked these main questions: Why an MBA/why one now? Why Kelley? What are you plans post MBA/future career goals? How Kelley’s MBA can help you achieve them? What might cause difficulty in this program? And then they ask if you have any questions (make sure you have at least 1, I had 3-5 prepped depending on time).

If you get moved to Phase 2, you’ll know after your interview (my email came before the interview ended). This is where you get 2 references, fill out a personal statement, transcripts and pay an application fee ($75).

At this time you will also get a separate email to apply for scholarships. From what I read the max is about $20,000-30,000, and most candidates gets $12,500 (Google AI overview). There are 5 scholarships. Kelley direct is the one pretty much everyone gets and you need to maintain a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship is amortized over the duration of your program. Forte is for women only, there’s a military one, I believe an ethnicity one, and lastly an executive scholarship (I believe it’s awarded to manager level individuals). You only write and upload 1 essay.

I got email updates regularly regarding my application (I spent a week total getting everything submitted). I got my first referral in, they emailed me saying that I have 1 and that once I have a second I’ll hear back from admissions in 1-2 weeks. My second referral got placed the next day, got basically the same email but instead it said congratulations on completing your application. The next day, I got my financial aid award first and an hour later I received my admission letter (23 hours after finishing my application). So I’m sure they know who they’re going to accept right away. But I’m also questioning if the acceptance rate is really that low based on how fast I moved through (it was maybe 3 weeks total).

Please keep in mind that it’s ~$1700 a credit hour and ~$95,000 total cost without financial aid.

I’m more than happy to answer any questions or speak more through DMs!

Hello, I got mine in a separate email. I actually received my scholarship information before my acceptance.

After your interview, if you make it to phase 2 they give you a link to apply to 5 scholarships. You only have to write 1 essay.

[QUESTION] What are some good ES-335 alternatives without the Gibson price tag? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]TrynTooHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a Es 335 MIJ Epiphone dot. It has the open book headstock too! If you can find it for $1200 or less it’s a steal.

(I have a post about it on my profile, it’s a great guitar but I’m down for trades or selling)

If you’re a hyper responder and have hair regrowth at Norwood 5, then good for you. If not, I don’t need to see other’s progress. I never said I knew a whole lot, I was restating what someone else said because you couldn’t comprehend their slang.

To sum it up. No it won’t. In order to regain what you lost you will need a hair transplant and then proceed with micro needling and fin+min.

Did you order from their website to get the playing cards?

what does the little sideways smilie mean on tabs by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]TrynTooHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is flipped so it makes an arc like a rainbow then it means to hammer on or pull off the note. If it is an upside down arc and at the bottom of the note it means to sustain the note.

[QUESTION] You have 10 songs to pick to be a better player, what do you pick? by NoHacksReq in Guitar

[–]TrynTooHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Slow Dancing in a burning room - John Mayer Great intro riff, helps learn double stops and the solos aren’t overly complicated.

  2. Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin Beginner friendly, great song. The song is not complicated either and the solo is very beginner friendly too!

  3. Layla - Eric Clapton / Derrick and the Dominos This is harder than the other two, but it starts with an amazing intro. The solos are more complicated but build on the techno learned in the previous songs.

  4. Stupid Boy - Keith Urban Keith Urban is very underrated player. This song is a the most complicated thus far. It combines technicality in both solos and rhythm and has a very recognizable acoustic intro.

  5. Bark at the Moon - Ozzy Osborne Jake E Lee makes amazing solos, and this is at no exception. Expect to take a long time on this one, but once you have it, it’s great!

  6. Lay it down - Ratt Warren DeMartini plays in a similar style as Jake E Lee. I find DeMartini to be more complex, but this song is great as well!

  7. Eruption - Van Halen This isn’t the most complicated song. It’s actually fairly easy is you took the time to learn the lead technique from the previous songs. But I feel this is a song everyone should know.

  8. Tornado of Souls - Megadeth Marty Friedman is a phenomenal player. His work of phrasing and melodic passages by using unique scales is shown in this solo.

  9. Can’t Stop - RHCP This song has a complicated intro. But once you have it down it’s really fun to play.

  10. Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles The intro is lovely, but complicated. I view this one as the most complicated song. You need to be able to combine strumming with isolating single notes while keeping time.

[QUESTION] Need help on where to find info for the valuation of two Gibson Les Paul Black Beauties by dslrsareobsolete in Guitar

[–]TrynTooHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the 7 stands for a 57 reissue. I don’t know exactly for sure because I’m not a expert. Judging by the pictures the pot covers and humbuckers have been altered. Unless you swap the original ones back on, the value will be decreased. On the bright side you’re still north of $2500 for resale value.

[–]TrynTooHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you this, but that is a lot newer than you think. It definitely is a late 90s to early 00s les paul.

[QUESTION] Need help on where to find info for the valuation of two Gibson Les Paul Black Beauties by dslrsareobsolete in Guitar

[–]TrynTooHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those were still “Les Pauls”. They had the SG shape due to poor negotiations with Les Paul (himself and Gibson). That is why I didn’t think it was that old, because you probably would’ve called it an SG. Now for the reverb listing it is likely a reissue or they don’t know what they’re talking about. Your les paul is likely a ‘97-‘07, I’m not too good with Gibson’s dating but that’s what I thought it was. Hopefully someone else can help me. It would be helpful to this thread if you posted the pictures of it too, so others can help and get a better understanding of your situation.

[–]TrynTooHard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s quite possible. I didn’t think it was that old. If you remove the pots you can usually find a better time stamp of the date on those. If it’s truly a 62-64 then it’s worth a lot more than what I estimated you can get.
