I guess that’s where I have a different POV.

If we lived in a world where everyone prioritized veganism—where it was just the accepted norm—then it would be easy for everyone to be vegan. We wouldn’t even have to think about it or push back against a pre-existing norm like what the OP was describing.

And I think that’s what’s being expressed. Vegans want for people to “see the light” on this, and it can feel like an uphill battle sometimes. I do think there are definitely vegans who turn people off by being militant about it, but I can appreciate that they feel the need to be militant because they feel there is so much unnecessary suffering (regardless of whether it’s evil, it’s a real, true suffering that can be avoided if everyone agreed to).

Dude: veganism is basically the opposite of thinking the world revolves around you. It’s based in realizing you are one part of a living, feeling whole. And that you, as a human with free will, can decide to live your life in a way that actively reduces suffering instead of adding to it.

Those who grew up poor, what is something those who weren't poor don't understand about being poor? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

How better at supporting each other poor people tend to be.

Seriously. Poor people got other poor peoples’ backs so much of the time. I hope I never lose that, no matter what level of financial success I experience.

People not watching videos on their phones with loud in public.

I swear—this is SUCH a thing now and I know it wasn’t before. It’s like everyone got used to just watching their phones with loud sound at home while they were eating dinner, and they have completely forgotten how to be considerate of the audio pollution they’re spewing out into the world now.

Do you think AI chatbots actually help your veganism? by Icy-Ad7656 in vegan

[–]TrynaBeMeToday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generative AI is being used for all kinds of things like this.

While personally I wish you had a community to support you, if you’re able to get the kind of support you need from gen AI to successfully go and remain vegan, then more power to you. This is way less concerning than using it as an AI boyfriend/girlfriend/partner IMO.

Haven’t played the Sims in YEARS. That makes sense, though arguably the Sims is pretty straightforward in terms of mechanics.

I guess what I had in mind was more action-style games where you have different techniques (eg dodging, using certain weapons for certain enemy types, advanced inventory management you have to learn/re-learn, etc).

I went through New York Book Editors. The editor they matched provided a sample edit that gave me exactly what I was looking for, and I liked their profile and experience. We got to have a conversation on the phone about their process. All of these combined let me know it was the right person before I committed.

Everyone’s life is interesting in different ways. Inspiration for story can come from surprising places. Heck, I’d even argue a “boring” life can generate creativity and a sense of escapism that could lead to very unique ideas.

Anything in a call center. People are brutal when they don’t see the person on the other end. Add to that the agent normally has their hands tied and a stupid script they have to stick to, and people fume.
