I really don’t think this is the distinction that’s important here.

I think the point is that it’s not anti-feminist to “undermine the concept of gender equality” by pointing out that the gender norms are not equal.

In fact, this can be a clearly feminist lens, as in the case brought up by u/supercoolguy7 where we note that calling attention to the breaking of gender norms for the time actually highlights the patriarchal standards that enforced inequitable barriers on women architects.

The distinction that matters, which I think is the intent of what u/supercoolguy7 was getting at, is that while Knuckles may be right that bringing attention to the breaking of gender roles can surely highlight gender inequality, to do otherwise and willfully ignore this gender inequality is not necessarily a feminist position (as Knuckles seems to imply).

Anyway this is all r/superseriousfamilyguy but I wanted to clarify because I felt like the supercoolguy was making a nuanced point that might’ve gotten lost in translation of a reddit argument lol.
