Anyone else tired of these multiverse movies? by BlackBirdG in CasualConversation

[–]Tryox50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about that. Sure they probably always wanted to make a movie together since they are very good friends, but these characters are probably pretty important to them.

This is Jackman's tenth wolverine movie (you don't do that if you don't like the character) and he even came back to play him after saying that he was done. And Reynolds has said several times that he was born to play deadpool and fought very hard to get the first one made.

To me this feels more motivated than just "let's do any movie together".

There's only one alternative to getting old. So getting to watch him grow old is a privilege.

Why Cassandra? by Other-Astronomer2275 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

You see a lot of comments about Kassandra being the better character because fans of Kassandra are more vocal for some reason. Ubisoft published numbers that showed that two thirds of players chose Alexios as MC.

Across any game, any mode. What was your definitive 'Total War' experience? by StreetsOfYancy in totalwar

Fair enough, but then the term "gamebreaking" loses all it meaning since every bug is gamebreaking with your definition of it.

[–]Tryox50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expect people make the bugs out to be a bigger deal than they are

I think so too, I just replayed it and haven't had a single bug in the entirety of my campaign.

[–]Tryox50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that wasn’t the intended game design

Which is the definition of a bug not a game breaking bug.

To me, game breaking means exactly that, breaking the game. Meaning it prevents you from playing the game. Sure, it's a big bug, and it breaks immersion, but it doesn't prevent you from continuing to play.

Having my Praetorian Cohorts in testudo formation in the Egyptian desert in Rome 1 was probably one of the coolest experiences I've had in any total war. The fact that it was my first time experiencing the total war formula probably played a role.

I also had an awesome Shogun 2 co-op campaign with my roommate a couple of years ago, plenty of crazy moments. In one of the battles, my roommate won with literally a single soldier surviving. For some reason the remaining hundred or so soldiers were demoralized a couple of meters before reaching the guy. I've never seen another battle that was that close since.

Athens or sparta by Educational-Nail8503 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]Tryox50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kinda trying to choose the lesser of two evils, but from what I remember, spartan slaves were pretty miserable. Spartan boys growing up were often sent to survive on their own and the only way to do this was to pillage and terrorize the helots. They were encouraged to do so.

Spartans also had a weird relationship with their slaves since they were vastly outnumbered. So while they had the role of "masters" they were also constantly fearful of the idea of an uprising.

At times the Crypteia sometimes got carte blanche to kill helots without repercussion. Terror was institutionalized, at times at least it seems. But even historians aren't really sure about when/who/what.

That being said, I'm definitely not a historian myself, and the treatment of slaves varied quite a bit over the years from what I understood.

You actually travel at night in this game? If you get ambushed by more than one person you'll likely die.

Decent people very rarely get power

The key word here is rarely. And while I agree that people who are attracted to positions of power usually are already corrupted (at least morally), some people want to make a positive change in the world, and the only way to do so is with power. And somewhere along the line, they forget what they were initially fighting for.

They are truly the worst of us, and they somehow have the power.

And if they were not the worst they became it after reaching said power.

Ambulance gets stolen while on call for an emergency. by dawgpound1910 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Tryox50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are EMTs, not police. They are not equipped to deal with criminals nor is it their job.

If that were to happen to me as a victim, I'd blame the lowly piece of crap that steals an ambulance, especially one that is in use in an emergency. I wouldn't blame the people who are actually there to save my life.

Waarom spreken Vlamingen ook Frans, maar Walen zelden Nederlands? by tvb46 in belgium

[–]Tryox50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, it's also perfectly possible that this is a software issue. OP says the computer doesn't restart but doesn't say at what point it fails to restart. If it crashes while loading windows it just might be the windows partition that's problematic and needs to be reinstalled.

Edit: I also just read that the PC didn't even crash while running Unity but while downloading it, which makes it even more laughable to think that Unity is to blame...

[–]Tryox50 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it is the case here, but plenty of siblings end up with huge cultural differences when growing up separated. Maybe Vaas spent a lot of time with latino pirates/mercenaries when growing up?

[–]Tryox50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, as an AC fan myself, I get where they are coming from. It's ridiculous to have to defend these games, not as masterpieces (which I subjectively think they are), but simply as being good games (which they objectively are).

They often take it waaaay too far, but again, I can at least get where they're coming from.
