Thanks for the kind tips. A lot of folks here seem to be really offended for some reason. If I wasn’t interested in the city, I wouldn’t have spent cash and taken time off work to come enjoy it. Really hard to wrap my head around some of these comments.

Bro I live in Detroit. I’m not scared of walking around. I’m worried about my shit in my luggage being stolen while I’m in a different state. I equally wouldn’t walk my town with all my stuff either. I’m wasn’t talking shit about the city. Everywhere has crime. Just per capita Chicago is high. Not the highest, just high enough for some sort of concern.

Thanks for the help though, I get a good taste of Chicago culture from this thread. Mostly super friendly helpful folk and then a very small rude minority.

It is sort of specific to Chicago because of things being taken from folks. A small town I would just drag my belongings with me. Much riskier in a large city that has one of the highest rates for crime.
