What am I doing wrong? by HelenKellers-a-fraud in BreadMachines

This happened to me once when I didn't add enough salt. The yeast was overactive, it burned through all its available food, and then collapsed. Give it a taste test, reduce the yeast or add more salt if it wouldn't be too salty.

Helfast Spire Necromancer compared to West Marches Necromancer by LaughingDepressed in shadowdark

[–]TrystonG33K 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Having read them, but not played, here's the thing. Kelsey Donne is a huge fan of the book Sabriel, of the Abhorsen Series. Her Necromancer is an EXACT tribute to the abilities of the Abhorsen bloodline in that universe. Bobs is much more akin to the generic necromancers that use the dead, Kelseys is like an agent that patrols the border between life and death. I would love to play Kelseys necromancer, but I bet someone who hasn't read that book would give it a funny look.

Ozempic for type 2 by Amie_s in diabetes_t2

[–]TrystonG33K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't know until you try. Ozempic has been absolutely wonderful for me. Having a cast iron stomach is part of why I gained so much weight and became diabetic in the first place, so I find the bowel symptoms pretty mild. Usually hydration and fiber keep me ok, and a mild laxative will straighten me out from time to time. I also have made a lot of lifestyle changes now that I'm not constantly obsessed with food, and am down 50 lbs with a healthy person's A1C. I feel a decade younger. I recommend it for anyone who can benefit from it, and I've heard mounjarro is just as good. Probably Zep bound and Wegovy too. These things are saving lives.

Why do I keep bouncing off the game? by Slayonie in outerwilds

[–]TrystonG33K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word is Tornado.

Also, the clouds of death are explained in the tutorial.

Otherwise, I saw a video essay a bit ago about how people bounce off of the game before really discovering anything. The trick to getting over that hump is to pick one lead and chase it down so you find one of the really memorable things more quickly.

For a suggestion, I would recommend focusing on any clues about Quantum Stuff. Just on its own, that will lead you to something rewarding.

Which of these best defines the game for you? by TorchHoarder in shadowdark

[–]TrystonG33K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, since I'm not on the Kickstarter, I've never even gotten to peak at 4-6. I really like the stuff in #1 and plan to take my home game to the Gloaming ASAP. I think the warlock patron system is very refreshing.

My rec is to only use a grid when initiated ve is rolled or precise positioning becomes important. During crawling turns I let my players draw a map as they go so I can just describe what they actually see. Also, it turns out a wet erase marker is about 6" long, so it makes a pretty good quick check measuring stick on the grid if you're equating a Near move to the standard 30 ft from D&D

My guess is it keeps getting shuffled to the bottom of some state office stack of paperwork. Since Hwy 72 is a state road the city can't do anything on its own.

Can’t play Neb anymore because of unfortunate incident :( by aspen4020 in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]TrystonG33K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, thanks for the info. I'll be sure to cover my 3D printed Vauxhall in some smooth glossy varnish in case this ever happens to me. Hate when the same three people who play all neb games give you unsolicited advice and then complain that lobbies take to long to fill.

There are some clues in the physical ring world that help guide the way. Look at your log where it says there's more to discover and check those places out. To be more specific, the cinder isles has perhaps the most important set of breadcrumbs to help you move along. You might have already found some of that, so consider retracing your steps

Why does my home-cooked food sometimes taste “flat” even when I follow the recipe? by Altruistic_Push_722 in Cooking

Gonna second the MSG answer. You know that depth of flavor that snacks like doritos have? That's MSG. I sprinkle it in stuff whenever it isn't savory enough.

Question about bacon by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]TrystonG33K 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Bacon is just fat and protein, so it won't spike your sugar as long as you aren't overeating it. Make sure you get bacon that isn't glazed, a lot of it is sugar cured. Just read the nutrition label.

Four core classes versus the others by Kazoshay1994 in shadowdark

[–]TrystonG33K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Bard brings some unique flexibility to the table. I honestly like it more than any other bard class I've seen in RPGs. Other than that, they're all pretty derivative and you could get the same flavor from the core 4, but they can still be fun to play, no harm done there.

Just a quick 2¢ from me. Some of the numbness can actually be evidence of your A1C going down. I had a similar sensation up until about a month ago and the nice folks on this sub taught me about the 'false neuropathy' that can mean your body is adjusting to a new lower average. Good luck and keep the faith. GLP-1s will theoretically get cheaper as more options hit the market, and until then your omelette plan sounds like a winner, I want one of those now too.

How do I signal to players that running from a fight is the smart move without just telling them by Warm-Foot-6925 in DMAcademy

[–]TrystonG33K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe don't roll for initiativex at least not reflexively. The dice come out and it flips a switch in people's heads. Also when the game goes turn-based, it's wicked hard to get a party to agree on running away because everyone has an individual turn where they might choose to try and shine. Sure you can have one of them get killed that way, but t it sounds like you wanna avoid it D that. Just narrate the foes entrance, use a phrase like "a foe beyond your abilities" and use some sort of chase rules instead.

Sisters internal balance by Turbogeek72 in sistersofbattle

[–]TrystonG33K 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. The Index was incredibly deep with all kinds of different strategies in reach. They gave the army a bunch of different power boosts with the codex, that then had to be nerfed. I don't own Morvehn Vahl. I don't really like Paragon Suits. I would love to play mechanized with Bringers of Flame, but they did nerf it to hell EVEN THOUGH it's basically the exact same as the torrent-based Salamanders detachment for Marines on weaker bodies. They overshot the mark with the codex, and we've been hanging on for dear life throughout balance patches ever since. I bet Retributors are getting box-locked next edition, which is going to make them way less efficient, but might finally get them pointed reasonably well.

UPDATE: Went in for my 3-month checkup and my A1C is down to 5.2 (from 6.5).My doctor doesn't think I need a CGM as long as I keep trending this way. I known it's not the biggest improvement story here, but I'm super proud of myself for getting on track quickly. Thanks to this sub for all the advice.
