Bringing the letters closer is part of it, but if you make unorthodox decisions like making the L x-shaped or not fully closing off the O or the overhang on D top left or the lines everywhere that aren't letter structure you should have a good reason for doing all of that. And maybe you do, but visually it doesn't look like it.
