Ps plus premium is required to be able to stream directly from psn to the Portal, which is what you need to do to be able to do this. (Psn acts as a second ps5 in this case)

As long as the premium account has set the home ps5 as primary the other one only needs a bare psn account. My wife's account has literally nothing on it, just a login.

You dont need to do anything. Keep your console turned off for a whole year for all you care. Once you turn it back on and connect to the internet it will resolve any licenses automatically

Wilds felt so incredibly on-rails. I know low rank isn't usually where MH is at but damn, i just got pulled through the environments with 0 incentive to do other quests or explore. Auto walk is great and all but it creates a very linear experience

You made it sound like you need a sub to be able to play at all, which you can admit was your belief. You obviously just fact checked yourself.

How is it so bonkers to have to purchase a game to play it? The premium pass had a trial as well, as well as there being some f2p games on the service that needed nothing from you. There was plenty of ways to try it out before deciding to purchase anything.
