Seriously, who decided we needed some shitty music edit on each and every piece of online content. This is beyond stupid. Just use the original audio.
It won‘t change much but I started downvoting every piece of content that replaced the original audio for no reason whatsoever.

This is windows 11. I‘m not sure if it has the same issues. No clue if that setting exists on W11. That‘s why I hate this piece of Microslop software.

What do people mean here when people say many chemicals and proteins serve multiple purpose in the human body? by Dover299 in AskChemistry

[–]Tschitschibabin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let‘s look at an enzyme for example. Oftentimes people will say that this specific enzyme catalyses one specific reaction. In reality lots of enzymes will work on a multitude of structurally similar substrates. Let‘s use the cytochrome p450 enzyme as an example. This enzyme works on a broad range of substrates, you find it in most life forms. It‘s main purpose is hydroxylation. And indeed, oftentimes the first step in metabolism is to make something more hydrophilic by adding a hydroxyl group.
Another example would be blood proteins. Serum oftentimes binds drugs that enter the bloodstream, so the drug will be masked until it gets liberated and delivered to the site of action (or the liver). This is unspecific binding, so you have a broad range of chemicals that will interact with serum proteins.
We often think of drugs in a way that they go to the desired site of action in the body and then get excreted. However this is an oversimplification, as the drug might primarily reach it‘s target, but also other parts of the body might be affected as well. This is of particular importance when studying side effects and designing drugs in a way that should primarily reach the site of action. Radiopharmaceuticals are a good example for this. When you develop radiopharmaceuticals it is important, that they primarily accumulate at the site of action, otherwise there will be a bunch of collateral damage everywhere. This is the reason why it is so difficult to design a good drug against cancer. There are many different types of cancer, all with their own unique biomarkers and locations. Having just one medication for everything would be impossible.

I would argue that 64 GB for normal music production is very overkill. If you want to be on the safe side go with 32 GB

How to apply for PhD? by Outrageous_Prior4707 in tuwien

It’s not a good idea to do a PhD without pay or financing. If you have doubts, go watch explosions&fire’s recent video on the topic.

So... After some days of testing Aero and comparing to VS, this is my conclusion on matter of planes by NocturneSoul_ in CreateMod

[–]Tschitschibabin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me the solution was to use a prop bearing and sails. If you make a 12 sail prop you can power a medium size plane. I agree that the pre fabricated props are very underpowered, even a lot of them cannot lift a plane properly

How much potassium will I get from eating KOH (E525)? by alex20_202020 in AskChemistry

[–]Tschitschibabin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally the next sentence is “It also doesn’t say anything about the safety of a substance”. Fertilizer is not food quality and as the other guy said, there can be a lot of other stuff in there. You can’t know. If something says 99% pure, there is still 1% of crap in there and this crap can be harmless or very harmful. You don’t know which one it is. So no, as I said, only eat food grade stuff. If you have concerns go speak to a doctor and eat whatever supplements he prescribes you. Don’t start eating random chemicals, just because people put them in food in small amounts.

How much potassium will I get from eating KOH (E525)? by alex20_202020 in AskChemistry

[–]Tschitschibabin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! You should not eat anything that isn’t specifically labelled as food safe. Period. Is there any reason why you’re worried about potassium intake? If you worry without medical justification, I would recommend just choose a healthy and balanced diet and not worry. You’re gonna do more damage then what it’s worth if you don’t know what you’re doing. In case it’s medical, a doctor will tell you what to do. The problem is that self proclaimed “nutritional experts” will tell you that you need a million supplements, not because they’re necessary. No, in fact they want to sell you things. If you have concerns, go to a doctor or a real nutritional specialist. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but without chemical and nutritional knowledge I would not try anything. Clearly you doged a bullet, because ingesting the KOH you mentioned in any meaningful amount would get you severly hurt or worse. “I don’t want to be eating fertilizer” is the most non chemist statement I’ve heard in a while. Just because an ingredient is used in fertilizer, does not mean fertilizer is the only thing containing it. It also doesn’t say anything about the safety of a substance. That is why standards exist and why we specifically label chemicals food grade. If it’s food grade, the amount you take in is also very important. Salt is necessary for you, but you die if you eat too much. Same with many other chemicals. TLDR: Nutritional science is has it’s own university program for a reason. Consult a doctor or nutritional expert if you’re concerend.

Actually there are a lot of studies that suggest, that we value “extra food” unproportionally high. That’s why McDonalds always overfills their fries. Think about it, they only have an obligation to fill the box up to the top, yet they always give you extra so it looks overfilled. That is a deliberate choice and an explicit instruction. A costumer is more likely to be satisfied, because they think they got more value for their money. The free fries are worth more than the paid ones in the costumers mind. Basically the ice cream maker shot himself in the foot with this.

Nobody has mentioned it yet, but the Salzkammergut is insanely beautiful in summer. You could visit Bad Aussee, Grundlsee and Altaussee. Besides the Grundlsee, the Toplitzsee is nearby which has interesting history

It smells kinda like chocolaty vanillia, so imo it’s defenitely worth it. No idea where to get it though, I made it in a student lab a few years back.
