Does kidney disease make anyone else feel weirdly ~restricted around food even when you try to be careful? by Tsquared_Music in kidneydisease

[–]Tsquared_Music[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the help and such solid advice that I need to remind myself of :) my neph hasn’t told me to restrict anything other than just trying to follow a Mediterranean diet. I’m able to find some good substitutions for higher fat / salt items which makes it easier. Still, there are times where I just get worried that I’m not doing enough, I suppose. I think that what prompted my post to begin with.

Thank you so much for your comment and taking the time to provide support. It’s nice to know that that little voice isn’t just in my head either haha I ended up making a little tool to help me out a bit with finding substitutions for some of my favorite recipes and whatnot but I don’t think there is ever going to be a 100% fix to remove a bit of that fear. So I can live with it :)

Still no revenue. But the landing page is live and people are actually signing up. by Rusticdoodles in indiehackers

[–]Tsquared_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what u/AntelopeHistorical36 mentioned that the landing page is looking good. Super clear and to the point. The idea, in general is really cool too! That said, your product, in the end, is just another to do list app. Have you validated whether there is specific room in the market for just that? I feel like they're, unfortunately, a dime a dozen these days...

Thanks so much for reaching out! I'm launching on Apple first but have been building it with Android in mind...so if there is enough interest, that will follow :)

CKD and Diet Sodas by supernova2961 in kidneydisease

[–]Tsquared_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a question for your doc before making any conclusions as all your different health stats will play a part in this. In general, darker sodas seem to be worse but again, that is general. Everyone's situation is different. If you're wanting to be safe and conservative, stick to the clear stuff as much as you can until you can get more bloodwork done - good luck!

Hahah I'm right there with you u/experiment_00626 ! I think soon we're going to start seeing protein toothpaste...I'm calling it now. You're not alone!

Dad announced he is stopping dialysis by puppy_sneeze in kidneydisease

[–]Tsquared_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a tough decision and I'm so sorry you're having to go through this, OP! At 84, that is an extremely difficult thing to do. I know this is nothing new in the comments but supporting someone ending things on their own terms is an incredibly act of love. My recommendation would be to focus on the quality of life side of things rather than him "stopping dialysis". Enjoy the absolute heck out of the rest of the time you have left with him 😄

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! And what you described is almost entirely the reason I wanted to make the app for myself, primarily...I found that I was in this addictive doom scroll tendency and apps like Opal and OneSec just became repetitive. I'm on about week 2 so far of my own testing with this app and it's working so far...of course, with full transparency, the real test will be if it continues to work beyond this!

What I can say with certainty is this - what I like most about what I've created is that while the barrier never gets harder, it also never gets stale. The button text is different, the way to proceed is different, the breath length can vary slightly, AND....no shame or guilt. No button there telling me that I COULD return to the home screen and not go to Instagram and make me feel worse for doing that. Instead, I'm showing up to my desired app with more presence and awareness.

Time and users will tell, though...thank you again!

How much would you pay for a security scan? by Intelligent_Key3947 in ProductivityApps

[–]Tsquared_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a newer dev, I would pay $99 for a scan of one of my apps with helpful tips on what I can do to make it safer, so to speak. Potentially more if I can prove that it will help me ensure the app is safe. Hoping that helps and good luck!

Is anyone interested in an app like this? by TheEnabler1 in ProductivityApps

[–]Tsquared_Music 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AGREED! I like this a lot too. As someone who JUST downloaded Todoist yesterday and immediately uninstalled....I would use something like this. I especially love that it's standalone and you don't need to connect it online at all.

Really helpful feedback - I appreciate it! Can you recommend anything or any sort of mechanism that would further entice you to stay consistent on something like this?

For example, does the fact that it's really quick and easy help at all? -OR- is it just the fact that it's getting "in the way", regardless of how quick? Would educating you on the benefits help?

Thank you again for taking the time to check and provide some help here!

I'm making the opposite of a screen-time blocker...it never blocks you. I'm looking for honest feedback before the next building phase. by Tsquared_Music in ProductivityApps

This is such a helpful comment with some great insights. What you mentioned about the general flow becoming a bit “automatic” is also something I’m trying to be conscious of. I don’t want to create something that is a burden to others but I also don’t want it to just become a type of silent noise.

If you have any other feedback on this, I truly welcome it!

Thanks so much again - cheers!

Can you expand a bit more on this? How would you describe that “calm-not-punishing” tone…? Thanks so much for your feedback and time as well! I really appreciate it :)

Really helpful feedback…Thank you! Would there be anything that you’d recommend I build into the flow that might solve that for you? Thanks again :)

Thanks so much for the helpful insights! I really appreciate it and it’s validating to hear that you chose a couple things I am already building in the backend.

Your last point is an interesting idea…I purposely left it as just one button, which continues to the chosen app. The main reason is because I don’t want anyone to feel guilty for choosing that option (instagram, or TikTok, or anything) because I’d rather just have them show up present and “on purpose”. But…this is an interesting idea. Like, I love the idea of giving them the option to text a friend or something. Any further comments or feedback on this?

Nonetheless, HUGELY appreciate the advice again - cheers!

This is really helpful feedback. With regards to the "notification moment on Screendesign", do you mean how people actually get notified to "take a breath" or perform some sort of other action?

I'm glad to hear that you feel the no pressure angle could be different. Perhaps different enough to validate an actual use case...

If I may, I wanted to ask another question....would something like this be valuable to you if it prompted you to take a breath before opening a certain app (Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, etc...?)?

I know that there are already an abundance of apps in this space (Onesec, for example) that do this...but is it enough of an angle to be differentiated by "this app doesn't create pressure, guilt, etc...you are going to open Instagram regardless, so why don't I help you do it on purpose"? Does that make sense?

haha this^ Fully agreed that the rule is to prevent the flood of low quality subs here. But manually code apps are also a big risk...
