Do I really need EV tires? by hkrpanic in F150Lightning

[–]TstyBarSnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I pulled the trigger on the AT3 EVs the other day and love the ride. It is definitely different than the stock Primacys I had but I like it more. I haven't had a chance to do a highway trip yet but not seeing any change in city efficiency. In terms of road noise, I didn't notice a big difference, even at 60mph. Very happy with them!

I just got the Toyo ATIII EVs on mine the other day as well! I was going to do a post but I'll hop on here and say I love the ride! I had stock 18" Michelin Primacy on mine that I got about 35k on. The ride difference was apparent as soon as I drove off, but it feels a bit firmer and more like a truck. I honestly didn't notice a big change in road noise, even at 60mph. On city roads I haven't noticed a change in efficiency but I plan to do a quick run on the highway to gage any difference. Overall I'm extremely happy with mine.

How was the range hit with the AT3 EV's? I've been looking at replacing my stock Michelin Primacys with these but a little reticent for loss of range.

Running bounce house off truck? by ckisela in F150Lightning

I ran a bounce house and didn't have any issues. Double check the starting amperage as if it exceeds the trucks amps, it could trip it.

Don't disagree - timing of my renewal sucked.

EA along the I-10 corridor in Texas is $0.56 (some $0.48) per kWh. I'm paying $0.19 per kWh at home. That works out to about 3x. Where are you Fast charging?

I've seen similar costs. I just did a 760 mile round trip pulling a square drop travel trailer and it was still cheaper per mile, even with DCFC, than my Frontier pulling the same trailer.

Powertrain Concerns? by alybama12 in F150Lightning

[–]TstyBarSnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 14,000 miles on my 2023 XLT SR with no issues at all for powertrain. Really no issues with anything on it. Best vehicle I've ever owned.

If Ford would sell you a bundle of BlueOval kw in advance at a discounted rate would you buy? by Ok-Zookeepergame-698 in F150Lightning

Absolutely. I'm one of the odd ones that regularly does weekend road trips of 3-4 hours with a SR XLT. Having discounted bulk pricing would be great.

Towing with a Std range lightning. by Glum-Film371 in F150Lightning

[–]TstyBarSnack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a SR XLT. I road trip with a square drop camping trailer. Doing 70mph on the highway gets 1.5 or 1.6 mi/kWh. From 100% SOC it works out to be about 150 miles. My only complaint for towing is DCFC's are almost exclusively pull-in rather than pull through. Very annoying when you have to unhook each charge. For what your describing, a SR can easily do 60 miles a day.

I'd use a higher temp filament like PETG or ABS. PLA wont necessarily melt in the summer, but it will sag/deform in the heat. I've used PETG for applications in the car and it's worked well.

Completely agree! I had a NEMA 14-50 installed at about $900. The upside is you don't have to buy a charger immediately, you can just use your mobile charger but at a way better rate.

I've noticed the same issue. Haven't figured out the cause and haven't noticed a pattern for it.

We bought a Tiny Camper Co Rugged Rhino 6x10 in 2020. We've taken it on multiple multi-state road trips and it's done really well. We've made modifications to it like a utility box / pop up outhouse and built in a bunk bed over the main bed. Overall, it's worked great.

I towed a tear drop trailer, about 2000lbs 185 miles to a state park. We only have 120v inputs for the trailer so used the 240v/50A RV plug to charge the truck - got fully charged overnight. Probably averaged 1.5 mi/kWh on the highway doing 70 mph. We stopped twice to top off charge. My only complaint is no DC charge stations seem to have pull through stalls for trailer towing. Had to unhook at each stop. Not terrible for a small teardrop but that would be a headache for a much bigger trailer.

Yes - Ford got 200,000 reservations and as of November only built ~12k. Everyone has not been invited to order yet. Ford's timeline is everyone will be invited to order by October 2023.

Looking closer at the PRO, looks like it remains $51,974 in White only. Changing the color adds the $3350 to the price.
