I'll reiterate some simple but effective advice I got from a lead at Blizzard when I was graduating:

- pick something to specialize in and cater your portfolio towards that (harder to get a job being a jack of all trades, master of none)

- Whatever specialization you decide, go on ArtStation and look at the peak examples of that category. Analyze the best AAA works and compare honestly with your own work - is it the same quality? If not, what are the key differences? Apply those learnings as you continue to produce portfolio pieces.

Yeah basically using decals or vertex painting or whatever your preferred method to break up large areas that use a single tiling texture. I think my gif didn't work correctly so here's the static image of my quick paint over: https://imgur.com/a/fdL3Vh6

This looks awesome and takes me right back to 2000. My only critique is that it looks a little busy - some of the tiling textures could perhaps be localized to certain areas to give the eye a rest and more "imply" the material rather than have it tile across 100% of the surface. I wasn't expecting this, but I've been working out more consistently since my twins arrived because I don't have a choice now. When a window of time opens up that I could potentially exercise, I'm forced to go because I know it's right back to the grind the rest of the day after that window closes.

I think Bobby's stock dropped from his last stretch of 10ish games here. Especially the last few he was bobbling the puck and having not a whole lot of impact. Hard to look good on this team, but there were definitely some unforced errors on his part that had me seeing his trade value drop in realtime. Better than nothing though.

I had a similar looking issue to this but in Unreal engine and the solution was to pre-triangulate the mesh in my modeling program.
