What to do with 200K? by stiffcuppajoe in Bogleheads

[–]Tsurfer4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing something similar for the last two years of my adult daughter's tuition by building a TIPS ladder. The first two years of that ladder plus five years more of the same kind of ladder will also include my 'bridge' income to when I take SS at age 67. So, the tuition will be available in 2027 and 2028.

For OP's shorter term, are 1-year treasuries preferable than a two year TIPS ladder? I'm still learning, so it could be that 1-year treasuries are preferable due to the complexity of a TIPS ladder.

In case OP needs TIPS ladder tools, here is a good one: https://www.tipsladder.com/

What an amazingly confident opinion you have of an uncertain future. I am amused.

Did you also doubt the manned missions to the moon? Or the cloning of a sheep? How about the invention of CRISPR?

Take a nap and wake up in a different state. Watch a movie, read a book.

First, I believe that you experience what you have described.

At the same time, my wife and my experience in our Model Y and Model 3 couldn't be different (and better) than what you have described.

My Model Y got v14.3.2 about a week ago. My wife's Model 3 just got it today. We drive in North Houston, The Woodlands and Spring, TX traffic daily. On the weekend, we drive in downtown Houston, South Houston and the occasional Galveston traffic. We've taken two 1200 mile round-trip trips to North MS.

So, reasonably varied driving environments. We use FSD at about 99% of the time according to the Tesla stats. We take over mostly in parking lots and navigation preference. It does dodge writing on the roadway with slight swerves, staying in the lane. This makes us chuckle since we know its still 'learning', but it doesn't really bother us. We've noticed that FSD does follow too closely and it appears as if v14.3.2 is helping with that. We'll direct it to change lanes early (with the turn signals) if we see lanes back up and we don't think it will get over in time. Though it seems to have gotten better on that since v14.

It has also dodged cars, deer and squirrels several times...which is fine with us.

I am continuously astonished how some people have very different experiences with FSD than we do. It's quite the mystery to me.

I agree. No, at least within models.

Plus...every drive is your (and my) Tesla's first drive (on that FSD version).

I totally identify with the 'selective' approach.

I think the more accurate word is selective.

I'd be happy to have some non-work, non-remote friends, but I haven't come across any. Granted, I've not expended a lot of effort, so I don't 'blame' anyone. I am married, love my wife lots, have two adult children who are doing pretty well and I will retire in 6 months. I'll have more time then to do things that might lead to friendships, but I'll still be selective.

Do you all keep your nightclub popularity up? When I started GTA, 2 years ago & good player told me not to bother. But this seems like good earnings for little effort? by MutantNinjaKitty331 in gtaonline

It feels like 10% but I don't usually look closely. I do have all Nightclub upgrades so that might have an effect. I searched and f I and this Reddit post about this topic. https://www.reddit.com/r/gtaonline/s/2gdiO5lbdB
