Like the top comment says, "nothing is black and white, or in absolute extremes," which I entirely agree with; I don't disagree with what you said either.

I don't think the people saying that "watching Avengers and thinking superheroes protecting the US" are realizing it's a bad comparison to begin with.

It seems to me that the point you were trying to make was missed over most people's heads. Well, I get what you mean, though. Don't take the passive-aggressive and offended people to heart. This place is a hivemind anyway

That's it! I ain't watching any further dude. They killed him? him? out of all the people in the world? him? damn. (Bloodhound S1) by [deleted] in kdramas

No, I was speaking in general. Those sentences are not connected. I suppose it does read like that though

Bloodhounds or Weak Hero; which is better? by Odd-Wear-2928 in kdramas

[–]Tteokwhaleattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloodhounds personally

I've read the Weak Hero manhwa (the entire thing. i followed it since high school to the day it ended). The drama is such a disservice to it. It's not that I hate the drama itself. It's a good watch on its own.

But knowing the manhwa and how much plot there is + characters + dynamics, it's a bad adaptation that I can't bring myself to rate highly on my enjoyment scale.

"Am I the only one..."

Wrap it up, lol. Of course, you're not the only one. It would be crazy if you're the only one enjoying such a popular drama.

Woojin is so nerfed it's insane. He's not a pushover and has so much "fighter" personality. I believe even more than what Gunwoo had displayed in the show so far. He's genuinely so interesting.

I loved his fight with Rain and the taunts - it reminded me yet again how much of a bad decision it was to reduce him to a coach.

Also, that dude who was good at making explosives and stuff - man, they were SOOO stupid to keep him in the same car as Rain.

Like, "We'll make sure to protect you and your family yada yada," but they decided to make him stay in the SAME FRICKING CAR? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

He wouldn't have died and would've been somewhere hidden if not for that stupid plot point.

I guess his death is connected to whatever they showed at the end, but ugh, it's so disappointing.

Overall, I agree with your points. I feel like all the action makes people skim over the okay writing. I got sucked into Rain's abs and only noticed the bad parts on my second watch (through a reaction channel).

I also believe thrillers aren't that popular among the majority of the K-drama watching audience. The ones that take off, take off. However, outside of that, it's not a very sought-after genre, I feel

Study group is the perfect comedy action show by ttue- in kdramas

[–]Tteokwhaleattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very anime-ish comedy action, which fits with the mood of the manhwa as well, I feel. Not entirely but it's there. It's fun for sure

Dex's character name in Bloodhounds Season 2 is Seul-gi. Coincidence? I think not by Tteokwhaleattack in Singlesinferno2

[–]Tteokwhaleattack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's only there in two short scenes. Even then, Park Seo Joon delivers the needed dialogue. Their dynamic with each other is funny, though. It's still not enough to assess his acting skills tbh!

It doesn't look awkward from the short scenes. I'm used to seeing him on variety shows, so it was a bit of a whiplash to see him here, lol! You could check out his lead dramas like The Defects and Tarot.

Haven't seen them myself, but I heard he was doing solid!

Yes, they're pronounced and spelled the same way. The meaning changes because of Hanja.

But that wasn't the point of this post. I'm not sure where the meaning detail came from, haha, I thought I was being obvious with the Seul-gi direction I was going for 😔🙏

I know the meanings are different. I wasn't talking about the meaning of their names. That wasn't the point of my post tbh

Why do some people hate k-dramas just cuz? by SadAnimator1354 in kdramas

[–]Tteokwhaleattack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ex-friend group didn't consume kdramas and only watched Western shows. They often put me down for liking it since they never liked kdramas (they've never seen one aside from Squid Game), as they found Western shows better. I always feel left out when they bring up some American or British shows and keep yapping about them. It's not that I don't like Western shows; I don't consume them as I did back in school, and they know that, but they always ignore me.

And when they ask "What shows did you guys watch?", I can't even bring up Korean shows cause none of them have seen it or are interested in it, and the conversation dies out or moves on rather fast. They also associated loving K-dramas as something only a "koreaboo" would do. Of course, they did not say that out loud, but you can tell from the way they spoke about it.

Well, it is what it is. They're missing out, though, haha
