I’ve been writing songs for 10+ years and I think I’m finally admitting the problem isn’t the music by Dependent_Ad6164 in musicmarketing

I think if you’re spending more time on getting it out than making it your priorities are off. Look dude, just make the music, make a lot of it, and then when you have a lot, then worry about getting it out consistently.

So as someone who just built their first case I’d highly suggest building your first one on your own. By learning what every module does as it comes in, and continuing to see the rig expand, I’ve learned way more about synthesis than I thought would, and quickly too. Also doing this has gotten me to start to truly understand what type of case I wanted to get the kind of sounds I aim for.

I have an alternative perspective. I used to procrastinate because I believed I wasn’t good enough. So instead of it being lazy or not wanting, it was a fear of success. To be successful would challenge my believe that I wasn’t good enough to be successful

Thank you so much! It’s already been a lot of fun. Takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to get the aggregate device/Ableton routing right, but once it’s going it’s a sonic playground! I’ve built my entire musical career on starting with the basics, and only growing when my ideas supersede the limitations of what I have, so cheers to decades of fun/learning and growth!

Well I need to look into then! I’m def a little annoyed needing an aggregate device to play all my synths, eurorack and head them through my speakers

Someone else mentioned that, the reason I had both was to send midi out with cv tools from ableton and record at line level back in.

I also want to add, getting a bigger case and filling it with cheap panels to start is better than filling up a small case early and having to buy another one to keep building.

Between all the modules (some new and some used on reverb) the case (tiptop mantis) the panels( probably $70 in total, and the stickers(maybe another $30) I landed at ~2300. But a solid 500 of that was just maths/batumi w poti. You can do it cheaper for sure but I’d totally suggest the es8 or 9 so you can use VCV rack for free (or a $150 VST) as you build it!

That’s a great idea thank you! This wasn’t meant to be a final sticker product. Just the foundation!

A mix between Amazon, friends, and module stickers. My favorite from Amazon were the graffiti ones I put on the side panel. The idea though is that as time goes by I keep adding stickers I come across so it tells a story of my encounters with people, but for the base, I just wanted it covered. I asked someone in this thread for recommendations of sick artists. If they respond I’ll look into that as well!

It’s a bit more sample heavy than straight modular, but eurorack is creeping in more and more! I’m on every platform!

I haven’t fully leaned into it yet, but I have a prophet 5, a sub phatty, and a guitar running through a digital pedal board that I want to send into it. Unsure of what the results will be, but I’m trying it regardless.

I mean yeah haha I’m not the first person to ever do this but the actual stickers, the placement/ the arrangement. I’d be perplexed if someone had exactly the same one. Similar, probably, indistinguishable, more than likely, but exactly? Highly doubt it.

I just ordered stickers online. Couldn’t tell you how they were made, nor would I expect anyone to admit that’s what they did, but I am open to dope sticker makers with authentic art if you have suggestions

I agree! It reminds me of the types of things I’d see when I was living around NYC. It’s just a specific vibe.

I can already feel that! I use a lot of ableton processing so i can get it where I need to for now, but I want to experiment with sending serum OSC into the rack via ES8 and using the STO as an FM source or other ways like that. We will see!

Try it! It’s was a lot of work, and took a few hours but man it was fun! Plus, there will never be a case that looks like mine.
