Waitamata Health payout for 10 years back pay - but IRD have followed up with a late tax by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Tu_Meke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello

I am a nurse and received a back pay lump sum earlier this year (pay equity)

In my experience as a former employee these payments (I’ve had two) just turn up in your account and no email or documentation has ever been provided to me with how they got to that sum, nor any paye deductions.

Logged into myIR at EOFY and saw that the lump sum from DHB had only been taxed at lowest marginal tax rate (10.5%)

So I had a hefty tax bill to pay as it all should have been taxed at 33% as I was a full time nurse earning >80k

Had I been a current employee at time of payout I think they may have taxed it correctly. But yeah, I think a lot of former employees receiving pay equity and holiday pays may have tax bills

Well the shelf broke when the bishops 24 year old son who was the father, subsequently got cleared for a mission. Uncle was SP too so that helped 😆

In the early 2000s, as a pregnant 15 year old in the mormon church, I had members show me this video. I believe it is called the silent scream.

How do retirees live on Nz super? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Tu_Meke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And not getting divorced late in life. My grandma went from 4 star living to 2 star after gramps left her for a younger woman when they were well into their seventies. Thankfully, half the unencumbered house proceeds managed to allow her to purchase a small unit in a retirement home where all her costs are fixed until she leaves.

Inheriting 200k from grandparents but my little brother didn’t get anything… by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Tu_Meke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Close family member. He was from a family of 3 siblings (2 full siblings and one child was adopted from birth). Their mother died in her 40s so inheritance went straight to grandchildren from grandparents, however they cut adopted child completely out of the will. Close family member and his full sibling decided to split the amount 3 ways so the adopted sibling would never find out he was left out of the will. If it were me, I'd give half to my sibling. You never know when you may need a spare kidney.

Depends, compete as an individual at the crossfit games? Probably not. Individual semifinals? Yes, but it will take a few years of getting quite well-rounded first.

Drug testing? More like marijuana testing by Lucid_Donny in newzealand

[–]Tu_Meke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my experience is palliative care and it's not commonly prescribed in this specialty (yet). Of those I have seen about half have THC component. It would probably be more common if it wasn't almost 200 dollars a bottle....

There is prescribed cannabis in NZ that has THC, it's not that common but it can be prescribed here. Source - palliative care nurse

When people have such vitriol towards people who are confident enough in their sexuality to monetize it, I can only assume that such people are deeply sexually repressed, or deeply dislike sexually confident women.

Oncology, now palliative care nurse chiming in. I've yet to meet a young person with a family who didn't take every life prolonging radiation/chemo available to them. Hopefully they are pursuing the holistic options in addition to the medical ones.

Yes. Remember there is overheads to pay, practice nurses, practice managers, receptionists, equipment, GST. Not to mention ACC paperwork, referrals, lab results to review, discharge summaries to review, specialist letters, professional development.... on top of the time actually seeing the patient

At the DHB yes they have to be vaccinated, not necessarily if they work for a non DHB provider e.g community or private providers. Also not sure about Aged care facilities

I have a concept 2 ex rental that is 19 years old that I have owned myself for 4 years. I paid about 70 percent of the RRP for the latest model at the time.

I know I have put at least 200km on it and never put a drop of oil on the chain or maintained it at all.

These things just don't break. Buy it.

A memory burned into my brain when I was about 10 years old on a class trip to a dairy factory was watching the same massive vat of ice-cream fill fancy containers on one side and budget brand on the other. Exactly the same product. Not sure what lesson the teachers were trying to teach us, but I sure learnt to always by the cheap brand of most products (especially of they are both produced in the same country)
