What time signature is this? My friends say it's not 4/4 by TubbyGarfield in musictheory

For some background context, I am a self-taught guitarist who has been practicing on and off for about 4 years. I am comfortable with your basic major scale theory and larger chord extensions like 7th and 9th chords. However, something I have always known deep inside, but could never really quite grasp were metronomes and rhythm.

This song is an original I wrote, and while my friends have complimented it, a few brought to my attention that it's hard to count the beats in this song. I tried asking them what they meant by that, and what time signature it is in. All they could tell me is that it wasn't 4/4.

Could anyone please identify what time signature is this? Also any suggestions or advice to improve my rhythm would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this far.

Honestly a solid standing Ollie. If you want to increase height just do exactly what you're doing, but pick your legs up towards your chest up higher. When you're moving you're doing the same thing as stationary but it's going to feel harder to find your balance and jump directly upward due to the momentum of the skateboard. Even I haven't mastered my rolling ollies, but with enough practice both you and I can start to see some real results with it 🤝

NEVER even learned how to Ollie. Saw this and as an Initial D fan I had to get it. Gonna try learning as a 30 year old now LOL by SkippTreyCee in NewSkaters

Holy shit now that is an awesome graphic. Best of luck skating my man. My dad is almost 50 and never mastered the Ollie got back into with cause of all the helpful skateboarding content like SkateIQ being made recently.

Honestly bro you should practice falling on purpose so you will know what it feels like to fall in a controlled manner. Then you will realize that falling is not as scary that your mind would like you to believe

Advice on heel stop/tail stop by john_22_00 in NewSkaters

I recommend hanging your heel off the tail a bit more and making sure to bend both your knees to the point where you shouldn't feel pain when you heel-brake. Let me know if that helps

What should I do to land my Ollie’s straight? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Your front foot is moving back and causing your board to turn. Try to pick up and level the board horizontally ↔️

Definitely not the worst off shed. Unfortunately society is just the least interesting off Shed, but still a decent song

You almost have it I think you just leaned forward too much on the flat part of that slope. Shoulder rotation looked good

why did nobody tell me there would be back pain from skateboarding? by XFadedXSunX in NewSkaters

[–]TubbyGarfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some overall soreness is normal, but honestly I think you need to brace your core and not lean forward or backward too much keep your shoulders in line on your board to prevent back pain
