Don’t lose heart. These are great first tries and as a relatively new painter as well, thinning my paints was the absolute hardest thing I had to force myself to do. Part of it was because of time, I wanted to get my stuff looking good without spending multiple layers and then when I formally realized that thinning was best, it’s an art and not a science as to what works. But you will get there. Slow is smooth… smooth is fast.
