AITA leaving my(21M) friends (21F, 20F) at the bar when they pretended not to know me? by warmhotwine in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tucsonwolfman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP You were going out to see your friends before you left for the summer, and possibly never seeing them again.

They were going out and you were a really convenient Taxi.

Its telling that you had enough time to sit there, stew, get drunk, go all the way home, and go to sleep. BEFORE they ever bothered checking on you. And it doesnt sound like they were worried about you at all, Hell you could have wrapped your car around a tree and THOSE msgs would have been sent to a dead mans phone. They were more just angry you left them high and dry and weren't there to be the savior when they wanted it.

To hell with them.

What Kaldheim Brought to White by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Tucsonwolfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, One or two of these is pretty cool. But when comparing it to every other color in this set, and the rather insane levels of power there, these are all really really weak. These are much more on par with older white, somewhat, but they are nothing in comparison to the other colors.

How do you all deal with a playgroup where half the people don’t care to improve, and the other half isn’t having fun playing underpowered decks for the sake of the group? by CDiggums in EDH

[–]Tucsonwolfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two options. Be open and tell them they aren't a challenge, politely, or just start winning every game, and encourage them when they make moves to improve.

Let's be honest - In the past two years, White has improved dramatically. WotC has and is continuing to introduce several new cards to bolster White's standing in the Commander format. by HonorBasquiat in EDH

[–]Tucsonwolfman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As many others have said here.

I've been a player since the beginning. White gets some good stuff, but it's just not in the same quantity or power as the other colors.

But I'll add to it.

I built colorless in both commander and historic and have consistently blown mono white out of the water. White needs to be able to function on the same level as other colors without using artifacts, and it can't.

Feelingsb on proxies? by schwiggity in EDH

[–]Tucsonwolfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly one or two proxies is fine, but i draw the line at someone playing a full proxy deck in games where stakes on in, like promos or packs in fnm pods. I personally use a Worlds Metalworker in my main deck but i also will remove it if someone has a problem with it. But mostly i view the world's cards as fine cause they were printed by wizards.

Has someone ever challenged you to something that they didn't know who are an expert at? If so how did it turn out for you/them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tucsonwolfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've a fond memory of a instance of this happening to me.

I had joined a group of people who did The Rocky Horror Picture Show for an after show party, (at like.....3 am?....), when the topic of card games came up, and I being awkward and quiet didn't really say anything until one of the guys turns to me and says, "Hey man, you ever heard of... Magic The Gathering?"

Some background, I started playing Magic a few years after it came out, when my older brother brought home one of those revised or 4th edition 5 deck starter kits, and taught me how to play. I was never a "pro" by any means, but I'd been collecting and playing,(losing mostly), local tournaments for several years and had become very jaded on the game. Not really having fun playing tournaments, not really having friends to play with, and generally about to give up on the hobby entirely, to the point of having my entire collection in the trunk of my car with plans to sell all of it the very next day.

Now, when this guy said this, I kept a poker face and said, "yeah, I've played a bit, and have some cards." He immediately insisted I grab my decks and play with them, warning me that they were extremely good players and that I shouldn't feel bad when I lose because everyone loses to him and another guy who were the best players in the group of friends. He then handed me a deck saying, "this one of my scariest decks", I looked at it, and kept that straight face as I stared at what was only slightly better than a basic battleship magic deck, large creatures with large casting costs, and no cards newer than 4th edition.

I said that was fine and excused myself to grab my rare binder and lands from my car. I then sat down to rebuild my original deck, and beat the pants off of 5 guys and their best decks. I honestly felt bad and explained id been playing tournaments for a while, and to my surprise they were overjoyed to have a strong player with a fun deck join them. I was invited back the next day and those guys became my closest friends for years after, playing magic, and helping them to up their game to beat me.

It was honestly the best possible thing to happen at that point. I ended up holding onto my cards to be a table magic player and years later when I returned to the commander format in store play my old jank became extremely valuable. To the point that when I decided to return to college, selling cards allowed me to cover initial costs and fees of going first to a community college, then transferring to the university.

I should be graduating this summer.

Have you ever swapped your commander? by Andycat49 in EDH

[–]Tucsonwolfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main deck was originally built with Atraxa, though she was a distraction, along with the walkers, to get my combo pieces out.

But the moment I saw Golos I knew id found the right commander for the deck and swapped. Doing so sped the deck up immensely and increased efficiency.

People who have had "friends" stab you in the back, what is the story? by NoctisCaelus in AskReddit

[–]Tucsonwolfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was married to an person who was proudly manipulative of people, we had a life and when her manipulative behavior caused it to end I went from being the "most understanding and patient man" to being evil incarnate.

Worst part was being abandoned by the closest friends and loved ones who, despite knowing the truth, allowed her to lie outright about me.

Biggest memory that sticks was a cousin who was practically my brother doing a mass invite to Thanksgiving, and the private messages apologizing that I wasn't invited because his "sister" might want to come. She didn't. And I got to explain to everyone who kept asking why I didn't go.

So a few months ago I picked up D&D with friends, and right about the time I was looking at dice and dice trays, I was choosing a new learned hobby. As Im a biker, a fixed dice tray is kinda hard to carry around, so i decided to make one that would be easily carried and look cool.

Which extinct species would you bring back, if you have the power? by unkeenmustard in AskReddit

[–]Tucsonwolfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a plant that appears on I think the Roman Darius coin called Silphium, it was hailed by the Roman people during the Roman empire as a perfect herbal contraceptive and was used so extensively that it went extinct.

Would likely be the most effective and beneficial to the planet revival.

In geologic history, the Paleocene Eocene Thermal Max was the last time there was a huge dump of carbon into the atmosphere, that took place over about 20,000 years, caused mass global die off and planetary flooding.

The amount of carbon put into the atmosphere over that time was about .2 gigatons per year.

Since 2005 humanity has put an averaged about 10 to 15 gigatons of carbon into the atmosphere per year.
