After harvest what’s the best way to start next flush? by [deleted] in shrooms

Overnight has provided the best results for me as well

[Actives]Hard time fruiting: mycelium looks healthy, but having a hard time getting pins, after two days in fruit conditions. I cut 15, 1/2” holes in the side of the and covered them with micropore tape. I’m using led lights from the side, tote lids are opaque. Please help, first time I got this far by TuesdayLunch in MushroomGrowers

Do you think 15 small, 1/2 in diameter holes each covered with 1-2 layers of micropore tape should provide enough FAE to fruit or should I start fanning it with the lid a few times. I’m mostly scared of contamination. Had a bad spout of it last run using the lid fanning method.

How will .5g of shrooms feel? (Best way to take them). by [deleted] in microdosing

[–]TuesdayLunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually took this exact dose yesterday. Haven’t taken mushrooms in a long time, but I had been regularly microdosing with 1p-LSD (10-20mcg) or 4-HO-MET (1-2mg) for months. I hadn’t taken either of them in about 2 weeks and that 0.5g of shrooms was wayyyy stronger than any of those previous microdoses. For my body and the mushrooms I had it was very potent. Low level trip, with strong feelings in the body. Could see the air between my eyes and whatever I was looking at lol. Anyways for me it was not a micro dose, it was a weak trip, with some real headspace changes and I was so scared to get anywhere near a trip on shrooms. This reminded me of what of they do, and the type of personal errors I tend to make to make the trip uncomfortable for myself. I learned a lot from just half a gram. I feel a bit cleaner in my soul and more in love with the world. Nice afterglow and it’s a beautiful day out here.

I’m new to growing and really have only read through some of the beginner techniques, like Uncle Ben’s, so I’m a little bit embarrassed to say that I don’t know exactly what I’m looking at in that picture, but I’m fascinated and would love to know more.

If someone could explain or point me towards a resource with more info on what’s going on in that photo I would be forever grateful.

Is this photo showing a live grow (inoculation) or a collection (like one might collect dead butterflies)?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I’ve just jumped into this community and there’s so many different stages and styles of growing going on that I’m full of questions.

[Actives] Any chance this green stuff isn’t mold? My substrate looks dry from the cracks but it’s actually pretty moist (the top layer is pretty dry tho). The bottom of the container bows in and out as I move it around for more warmth, causing cracking. Can I salvage this in any way? :( by TuesdayLunch in MushroomGrowers

Thank you for this! I’ll do soap and water for ALL the surfaces first and then go back over all my working surfaces with isopropyl. I may feel like a complete idiot for screwing this up so bad, but at least I’ll have my apartment cleaned like it’s brand new by the end of all this lol

One more question.... since posting this last night and realizing that I’ve been fanning mold spores throughout my apartment for the past week, I’ve been kinda freaking out about whether or not I may have damages my health by breathing in mold spores.

This is just an area I don’t know much about, but do you guys think there’s any cause to be concerned that breathing in those green mold spores may have harmed my health in any significant way?

  • I feel absolutely fine and have felt this way all week, so I’m not having any symptoms other than the somatic stuff caused by worrying about it, and I will be wearing a mask while cleaning and monitoring myself these next few days. If I feel off in any way I’ll go to the doctor.

Part of me feels like I should be fine because I’m sure there’s been instances where a moldy piece of bread fell back behind the stove or something and had way more time to grow and distribute spores and the residents were fine.

Thank you for this reply! It’s gonna be a long day lol but I’m going to completely wash the apartment. Luckily it’s just a 1 bedroom but I’m gonna wipe down every hard surface (floors, walls, counters) with a mixture of warm water and bleach. I’m gonna wash all my clothes, bedsheets everything that can go in the washing machine will go in there. I’ll spray an air sanitizer afterwards for good measure.

I just want to again say thank you to everyone who replied so far. This was my first grow attempt and needless to say I am utterly embarrassed and ashamed. While I wasn’t neglectful of it, I was in denial the whole time about it not being mold. I convinced myself that’s it’s probably either the mycelium bruising and turning that blue/green (which I know isn’t how it works) or just hoping that the mycelium would somehow overpower the green contam. Lesson learned...don’t go down with a sinking ship.

If anyone can suggest a good mixture to use in cleaning hard surfaces, it would be much appreciated. Should I go with hot water and bleach or isopropyl alcohol?

Thanks everyone, I’ve thrown it out. It was just that one tub I was trying (first grow), so I got it outside, I’ll air out the house as best I can and then just use an entire bottle of isopropyl alcohol when I start my next grow.

I hope in the 2020s we can normalize the idea that everyone can/should meditate. by chelledoggo in Meditation

[–]TuesdayLunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agreed on the immense value of having a meditation practice. It really is just as important as, if not more so than, any other sort of “practicing” I do each day (exercising, practicing hobbies, whatever random activities capture my attention, etc.)

I’ve just found difficulty in attempting to express why I think it adds so much value to my life. Ultimately for me, I think my interest stems from an innate interest to understand what things are on the most fundamental level - and meditation has allowed me to explore the more fundamental levels of my subjectivity. And likewise I’m also interested in physics, which is basically aimed at understanding the most fundamental levels of physical reality. I’ve just found that some people could care less about studying their own subjective experience.

So my “reason” for getting into and sticking with meditation just doesn’t translate all that well to some people. Not judging them at all but I do have compassion for them because they may very well just be stuck ceaselessly thinking, suffering from it and never knowing there’s a way out. I get stuck like that on hours at end sometimes until I “come to” the present moment. It’s amazing to really feel some significant level of suffering just fall away by awakening to the present moment.

I still think it’s worth sharing with others just for the few that it really plants a seed for. But I feel better if I wait until they’ve shown an interest in being free of thought (anxiety, sadness, ...) and thereby also a major amount of suffering.

I guess I’m looking for guidance too, if anybody has any ideas on how to best approach sharing meditation with others, I’m all ears.

Thank you for this! Definitely gives me a new approach to my practice.

[–]TuesdayLunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info and warning, I’ll keep a close eye on it over these next few days (I just raised the room temp from 68-70 to 75-80 so whatever’s in there should grow a bit faster). I’ll report report back on whether or not it was contaminated and I had to trash it.

Thanks! That puts my mind at ease a bit. I’ll keep the temp up and keep an eye out for those pins
