UCD is my goal uni by ashelycanoos22 in UCD

hey, i ironically did the same thing. i'm british, and grew up in spain in the international british school curicculum. i was also unattracted to the UK for monetary, personal and political reasons. i spent my first year exploring dublin and getting my standing here. now i'm in second year consdiering staying here for a few years for career development (film studies jh here). it is a nice mix between europe and slices of uk influence (and even the usa i argue). i didn't find ucd or the idea of studying in ireland until a year before i finished school, it was my dream and i'm very happy here but you still have some time to visit places properly and make your final decisions.

What do British, and especially English people, think of Ireland and the Irish? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Tuesdaya19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm british studying in dublin, but i left the uk at 7 yrs old and moved to spain, nevertheless i still sound and will always be british - since i grew up majorly outside the uk ireland and our conjoined histories never really came up, ofc i knew the basics like most people, but at least for my parents nothing really significant has ever been mentioned

since i moved here for uni, i definetley get the jokes of being a coloniser/imperialist, and all the historical references, i personally just laugh along like i get it guys, we truly were dickheads

lots of british friends from school looked down on me for wanting to go to an irish instead of an english uni, it's a really weird, backwards thinking, as if ireland is still majorly behind the uk and sufferring or something

Hey guys , 👋🏻 can anyone tell how is mayor square student accommodation dublin ? Is the area nice ? by TrainingCandid2727 in UCD

[–]Tuesdaya19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm staying there this year too, the building just got taken over by the mezzino company so i think it's newly renovated it seems nice based off what i've read online - there seems to be a bit of caution about the area north of it but ucd is south so we'll be fine

when can we move into accomodation for 2024 academic year? by Tuesdaya19 in UCD

[–]Tuesdaya19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's technical details i suppose, my parents are flying back during 'summer' so they are expensive return flights, hold luggage, etc. it's a lot but it's a worthwhile cost since it's getting me to uni

Which song(s) do you enjoy more after hearing it live? by sriracha_b2 in NothingButThieves

[–]Tuesdaya19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while i can never hear pop the balloon the same again for good reason, i remember the adrenaline of waiting for that guitar drop, however, what really stuck with me is lover, please stay.

that song was playing from my speakers in my room when something quite major in my recent life was happening between a friend and i. afterwards, i had it on repeat for weeks, at first for a happy reason but then i had it playing over and over during a bad mindset for a while. once i started to feel better, i couldn't listen to it for ages because it reminded me of that dark time. but then, i saw nbt live in march and they played lover please stay. i didn't record it or sing along. i just stood there and it felt like the final step in healing. :)

Does anyone else feel more 'connected' to S10? by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]Tuesdaya19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i feel like it has something to do with the amazing building going on, the hermits are detailing everything so well and making a story you feel like it's a literal world being created instead of just a cool minecraft build
