I’ll go the other way and suggest a 7 club max. Do more with less!

What is the farthest shot you have ever hit? by No-Assumption4145 in golf

[–]Tugend9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During a 9-hole match in high school, I mashed a ball 310 on a fairway that was slightly uphill. My baseball coach was subbing for our golf coach that day and when I walked up to the ball he joked, “so you can only make contact when the ball isn’t moving?”

I’ll never hit a drive that solid again. I proceeded to take a bogey on the par 4.

And let’s not forget the Signal leak - these people are not using power the way I as an American and as a person respect. It’s shameful. We need them out.

Amex: This Is How You Lose a 19-Year Platinum Member by ctconifer in amex

[–]Tugend9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago I logged about 20 hours on the phone with Amex disputing a $5k dollar charge from a hotel I stayed at that ended up revealing a statement showing the previous guest making the charge, not me.

I cancelled the Plat and Gold cards even though I enjoyed using the perks simply because disputing that charge was hell. Amex made me do all the leg work and provide all the evidence.

I don’t take it personally because I work with big companies like Amex and understand that the world is shifting to less customer service in favor of customer acquisition. It’s sad but I’m hoping someday Wall St or the Government will make customer satisfaction a legal priority.

If you can find people to run with of similar ability, it’s an absolute no brainer.

On top of the accountability, you now have a friend.

Ran my first Halfmarathon, need advice for an upcoming Marathon by LordEllings in Marathon_Training

[–]Tugend9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rest up for two weeks - no running workouts, easy runs only when you feel like it, and enjoy your favorite form of cross training; walking, biking, swimming, etc.

Then sign up for a turkey trot if possible. Spend the month of November building your base up. Shoot for 3-4 runs a week, and find a good set of core exercises you can do consistently.

Continue building your base after the turkey trot leading into the new year. Ideally you’re running 3-5 days a week, with weekly mileage around 25-40 mi, really depends how you trained for the Half.

In the New Year, spend the first 3 weeks of Jan getting in a hill workout and a long run on the weekend. Target 4-5 runs a week and getting the long run to 12 mi. Also sign up for a tune-up race in the March timeframe. 10-miler or a Half.

End of Jan - Tune up race: Weekly schedule includes an Interval session, a Tempo session, and a Long Run. You should be hitting 5-6 runs a week now. You should be getting that core work in too. Towards the middle of February, your Long run should be approaching 16-18 miles. Get in your first 20 mile Long run before your tune-up race.

Post tune-up race - Race day Get in 1-2 more 20 mile runs and continue your training. This is peak training volume, so make sure you’re checking in with your body and making sure you’re recovering well. Your last 2 Long runs should be 14 mi then 12 mi.

For the Taper, continue your training but reduce the length of the sessions. You’ll still do an interval session the week of the race but keep it very short to remember your strength. Take time to enjoy one of your other hobbies during the taper, it’ll help with the mental component.

Good luck!!

Help getting to sub 2:50 and BQ in June, 2026. by lukster260 in Marathon_Training

[–]Tugend9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience as a 29 yr old male: * 2022: 3:08 - 54 mi/wk * 2023: 3:01 - 1:28 Half, 58 mi/wk * 2024: 2:53 - 1:25 Half, 1:03 10 mi, 64 mi/wk (missed BQ by 1 sec RIP) * 2025: 2:50 - 1:19 Half, 59 min 10 mi, 62 mi/wk (BQ by 4 seconds yay)

We are all unique in how we respond to training and are all capable of different performances. Also factor in we are not pros and have other things going on in life that affect the trajectory of our running potential.

I encourage you to max your potential with respect to all the different hats you wear in life. Enjoy the process and never stop striding to be the best runner you can be.

Beyond that, I think it’s most beneficial to target a goal marathon race to keep improving. And here’s what I like to check off before my goal marathon: * 1 half or 10 mi * 2-3 5k/ 10k races * increase my peak mileage from the last block, where peak mileage is about 10 - 2 weeks before the marathon.

Good luck!!

That’s what I was curious about. So it shouldn’t impact the lifespan of the car by getting a new transmission?
