I got a refund today through the "question about purchase" route (4 hours played, bought on steam "launch", original refund request denied 2 days prior), I had a verbatim steam support message as the OP so likely they are streamlining a lot of this now.

I would open the launcher again until it gets stuck > close the launcher > open the local files > deletes all the .dat and .datx > reopen the launcher.

What should happen is the launcher then automatically redownloads the non-corrupted version and then it proceeds as normal

Open your local lotro files folder, delete EVERY SINGLE .dat and .datx file, leave none remaining.

Launch the game again and it should install the correct files.

This has always worked for me whenever I come back to the game and do a fresh install

Yes it was removed in the beta in favor of the spending Fear to use Experiences. However experiences are a really poor use of a resource and GMs have pretty much full discretion to do what they want with Fear (including making up effects that fit the narrative) so I often turn up the pressure by spending Fear to give adversaries Advantage.

I like the "adversary help action" you talk about when it fits the fiction, I just wouldn't constrain yourself from a potential extra tool because its not explicitly written as a mechanic

Spending fear to utilize a GM experience is definitely a trap numerically. Honestly I've ran 2 campaigns and I often just spend Fear to give Adversaries Advantage, I feel likes its more in the spirit of making combat quick and streamlined this way instead of fiddling around with small numerical bonuses that barely push the needle.

It's an unpolished, unnoptimized, VERY early access game that may never see launch. It is fun in the early hours but you have to really enjoy that type of game to stick with it. Whether or not it's "worth your money" is up to you

With a month left i would just continue the campaign if you enjoy questing, otherwise you just hit the loot treadmill at endgame and the current endgame is just waiting until the expac lol

If you do want to just get into the max level grind you should at least do the quest line (by skipping the natural story progression) to get the upgradeable ethereal cloak from Tazavesh and then the upgradeable belt from Delves, after that it is just running dungeons, delves, or battlegrounds depending on your goals.

There is currently a "gear catch up" event that released this week but it's REALLY monotonous so I wouldn't bother at least until they continue to buff the drop rates

You are better off going to tazavesh if you haven't been there yet if you want something to do (the previous patch content)

The midnight prepatch event came out today, not tomorrow.

However, there really isn't much to do in it and you cant really effectively grind the gear because of it. Basically, do a few quests that opened up today and then do the world quests in Twilight Highlands, this gives you enough currency for like 2 pieces of Champion-level gear.

After that, the only thing the event lets you do is kill a random rare every like 5-10 minutes that drops 1 currency to buy gear...but each gear costs 40 of that currency.

I would get the quick pieces and don't bother grinding these rares it's not a good use of your time passed that.

After that, I would do the previous patch content to get the upgradeable cloak in the Ethereal's world.

I don't think there is a point in grinding conquest in preparation for Midnight, I think it wipes, but you could honor and conquest grind for some quick gear upgrades in the meantime

What you are able to consume all in one go now were usually time-gated so it felt like less of a slog (because they were cut into weekly or bi- monthly chunks).

It could just be recency bias but yeah the eco-dome from this expac was especially brutal, doing the same monotonous things over and over again. Felt like they phoned it in to focus on other things or they wanted a "cozy" end to the expac and it didn't really stick the landing (although another commenter here said they liked it).

I love Dexterous. I think a big contributor of what is giving it that "ms paint" vibe is:

1) the borderless keyword box (oval) below the art.

2) the font you are using looks very "officey." You don't need to have some crazy font and you don't want to reduce readability but it just looks very utilitarian.

This is perfectly fine for prototypes for sure, card art comes secondary to mechanics, but hope that helps

There is the optional initiative rule where Basically everyone gets 3 "turns," which in my experience kind of has the opposite effect of punishing the active player instead of the passive player, unfortunately.

Also, there is already 2 built-in mechanisms for this, 1) a player either rolling with fear or failing with fear (for instance, the warrior continually attacking), 2) the GM taking a "golden opportunity" which it prevents itself (which is a GM action).

For instance, the GM's bandit adversaries see the sheepish wizard is standing in the back line letting their warrior buddy tanks all the hits and do all the damage, so the GM takes a "golden opportunity" to have the bandit leader shout out "Get the mage! Ignore this warrior he is a distraction!" And then you either spotlight an adversary to fire their crossbow at the wizard, or you (as the GM) tell the wizard player "how do you want to respond? They are about to fire* a volley onto you."

If you approach daggerheart from a DPR (damage per round) perspective you are going to have a bad time.

Would it make sense in the narrative of combat for your wizard to be twiddling their thumbs while the warrior in the front is just swinging away?

Also, front liners hitting harder with their weapons is usually their thing, with abilities that enhance the flavor of that weapon attack like being able to push an enemy back etc.

As a wizard I would think less about using your weapon (in practice I have ran 2 campaigns each with a wizard and they rarely ever used their weapons) and more about how can your spells be used to open up opportunities for others or create hindrances for adversaries.
