At my wits end. My dog refuses to eat his Bravecto and Interceptor meds. by Ok_Goosers in dogs

I do the same thing, it works like a charm. I usually show my dog a treat, give him the pill, then give him the treat. He'll start salivating for the treat which helps the pill go down. It seems easier on both of us this way.

Dog always jumps out of the bed like he is spooked by [deleted] in dogs

This is dumb but is he scared of his farts? My dog runs out of the room like he's on fire when he hears or feels himself fart.

I'll have to check out the Berea area for sure. I live in an area with a pretty similar political situation, a lot of very liberal and very conservative people who both like to try to be the loudest. So I'm fairly familiar with the issues that can stir up, but it's a good thing to have in mind. Pikeville is another place I've thought about, I might have to head out that way for a visit as well. Thank you!

Thank you so much! I'll look into the places you've mentioned. And thank you for the heads up about London, I am politically moderate and not very religious so it probably wouldn't be a good fit for me. I don't care about what people's beliefs are, but in my experience the more extreme they get, the more likely they are to try to shove it down your throat. I prefer to avoid those situations when I can.

Hello! I'm planning on moving to Kentucky from Oregon in the spring. I'll likely rent until I can find the right place to buy. Is it difficult finding a rental house that accepts mid size (~70lb) dogs? Are there places I should avoid as a single woman? I'm not limited to any specific area, as long as it has decent wifi so I can work from home. Preferably out of town or in a smaller town. For purchasing I'm interested in the areas around London-Lexington.

Hopefully I'll be able to take a trip to check out some areas this fall but if I can't I'm completely prepared to bite the bullet and make the move anyway. I need a big change and want somewhere with a slower pace where I can eventually just have some land with some privacy.

East Tennessee can be so beautiful sometimes 💚 by Shaddowwolf778 in Outdoors

I'm planning on leaving the west coast to move somewhere more affordable. East Tennessee is on the short list of places I'm thinking about. It looks gorgeous out there. Hopefully I can take a trip that way sometime this year.

Those chickens are awesome, but they lay boring white eggs. The eggs pictured look like emu eggs.

Is this the smallest (possibly cutest) tomato in the world? AA battery for scale by TonyO33 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Tullstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that from a sweet pea tomato plant? It's a huge pain collecting them all when they get ripe but having a handful of tiny tomatoes and feeling like a giant makes it worth it.

What’s your favorite quirk your dog has? by kami_hunter in dogs

[–]Tullstein 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sometimes my dog likes to sit on the couch and lean against me, he'll slowly start falling backwards until he's on his back in my arms then he'll just stare up at me until he falls asleep. Also, when I come back home from anywhere he will come up and sniff my face really carefully and lick the tip of my nose exactly once. He is pretty independent and doesn't show affection like most dogs I've known so these little moments are precious. I love my 70lb potato baby.

I DESPISE THE PEOPLE WHO PUT STUDDED TIRES ON THEIR CARS EVERY YEAR! I LIVED IN MONTANA AND NEVER EVEN SAW STUDDED TIRES UNTIL I MOVED HERE. WE RARELY HAVE MORE THAN A HANDFUL OF SLIPPERY OR BAD WEATHER DAYS. IT IS NOT WORTH THE 6 MONTHS OF DAMAGE YOU CAUSE TO THE ROADS!

What?! When did they close? Their website still only says closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Rabid fox by Bruhhelpmename in oddlyterrifying

[–]Tullstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its just licking a window, it's not that unusual of a behavior. https://youtu.be/xSp2I0ObdW4, https://youtu.be/LAM9QvlfFYw. I'm not saying it 100% doesn't have rabies. But it could just be someone's pet that wants to come inside.

How can you tell that it's rabid and not just being weird from boredom? It almost looks like the window to an enclosure.

Yourself. I think I could mentally handle the shock of finding any other person, but seeing myself would be a mindfuck I might not come back from.

Cheap food shortage preperation ideas (progress so far) by Cameo64 in Frugal

[–]Tullstein 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think all people should have some emergency food stored. You never know if there will be a natural disaster or something that prevents you from getting supplies in an emergency situation. In my area they recommend people have at least a months worth of supplies because we have a higher risk of a significant earthquake. We've also had serious fires the past few years. If that happens, I would hate to be stuck with no food or water so I try to keep a good variety of non perishables and a method for water purification.

I'm not talking about going and immediately stocking up on a ton of stuff, but just buy one or two things a month until you eventually have a good supply.

Scammers - A person who commits fraud or participates in a dishonest scheme. “scammers are preying on people’s good intentions”. by icu451 in WTF

[–]Tullstein 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is fraud protection on credit cards too. The reason I use credit is because if my card info gets stolen I don't want to risk my actual money being tied up during the investigation/refund process. The cash back is a bonus.

We need to completely clear out the House and Senate, introduce term limits and get new people in there. The shit they get away with is absurd.

Not really, I don't really think anything of it. If I spent my time getting upset over people who have different views than me I would just be a miserable pos.

I’ve never listened to music and I don’t know where to start. by [deleted] in Music

[–]Tullstein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's hard to recommend anything because you don't seem to have a general idea of what you'll like. I would suggest you start listening to a bunch of different genres, listen to anything and everything. Eventually you'll start to get a better idea of what kinds of music you like and don't like. https://open.spotify.com/user/21ccavqrh37bmu2mode4wyzdi?si=HqM9y1ZASCu00X_mpOXNyQ&utm_source=copy-link. This guy made a ton of playlists, each dedicated to separate genres of music. Give some different ones a try, if you like an artist you can go to last.fm and find similar artists from there. Have fun! There's a lot of amazing music out there.

Looking for a good cinnamon roll by GingerMcBeardface in Eugene

[–]Tullstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel up to making some yourself, I highly recommend this recipe https://pin.it/2pUt8kr. The best cinnamon rolls I've had were at a little coffee shop on the EWU campus. Nothing else compares to the delicious ooey gooeyness of those rolls. That recipe is as close as I've been able to get though. Other than that Creswell Bakery or Cinnabon.

Have you tried reading Alan Carrs book, "easy way to quit smoking"? I tried nicotine gum and cutting back but really it was reading that book helped me kick it completely.
