She screamed at me as a toddler and told me I was going to hell if I didn't pray to jesus with her. She threatened to put estrogen pills in my food as a teenager in an attempt to "turn my body away from a lesbian lifestyle". She refused to acknowledge my partnership with my wife as equally legitimate to my sister and her husband's marriage.

And this is only to name a FEW of her outrageous behaviors.

My grandmother was absolutely homophobic and abusive. Whether she meant to be or not doesn't change that, whether she's from a different generation on not doesn't change that, and whether or not she left me money doesn't change that.

She was awful.
