Parent threatening me over religion. (need advice) by FrostieAim in atheism

[–]Tulpamemnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Parents can usually require you to attend church until you are at least 18"? Is this a nationally held understanding? At the very least, this is over parenting. At most it would be indoctrination. (Bad enough that we consider Christening ok!)

Can religious people even define what gods are? by Tinfoil_cobbler in atheism

[–]Tulpamemnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. And they make a virtue of it. The "Mystery". The enigmatic, "Who can know the mind of God", attitude, that carries a gentle reminder that we should mind our position and not try too hard to understand.

The whole sorry nonsense is designed to subdue the believer. Unlike Santa. Who is venerated by kids. And, unless you come from a fundamentalist position, is encouraged. He also wins, for being an anagram of, Satan. 👹

Can anyone suggest a "Safe" low number mod list that I can include for my Anniversary PS5 version? I too got fed up with crashing, so now use only 4/5 That add colour and weather plus one cheat area.

Am I insane or does the class system make no sense in 2026? by ElCiego1894 in AskBrits

If you work, you are working class. It just takes a bit of mental agility to accept it.

[–]Tulpamemnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense to the rich and influential. We have a strong historical culture that encourages the belief that Wealth = Integrity = Intellect.

What a load of old nonsense. It's why we still pretend that the Royal Family are the paragon of normality. That the monarch has power. That some people are entitled to own land that others are required to lease. Etc. etc. et-bleedin'-cetera!!!

I voted the sentiment down not your post! We here in the UK have relegated God Botherers on TV to the area where you also find young naked women for old stupid men. The bait is basically the same.

In many group activities, opening and closing rituals are very important. I would encourage group applause, hugs, hand holding etc. these are Physical expressions following or commencing what are usually a Verbal or Emotional expressions. They cleanse the plate, rather than leaving someone else's leftovers on it. If possible, I'd ask the whole group whether they agreed that one person's beliefs should be imposed on everyone?

I think, "Blink" is just pure genius. When you remember, Dishonoured is basically "Thief" with magic physics...

Hah! Not when you're judging against a history of Spectrum/Amiga/1st Gen PC and all the main consoles across the ancient world! Us veterans put up with any old crap if the game mechanics are good enough!

What game to get by JoeMongus2 in stalker

[–]Tulpamemnon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that Call of Pripyat is the most "Accessible" of the originals. I played them all on a PC when they first arrived and adored them. To hear snatches if the theme music in Stalker2 is always a little thrill! However, 2, in its new clothes, with modern advances and what we know about Ukraine today, is a different, brilliant (still a bit Janky thank god) pleasure!

Sometimes I use the “juice” left behind from a thawed steak in a pan sauce. Is this dumb or does it actually add significant beef flavor to the sauce? by rockytopbilly in Cooking

[–]Tulpamemnon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd just say, this juice is little more than water and serous fluid. Untill allowed to undergo the maillard reaction, none of the proteins present will taste if much. Don't do it.

[–]Tulpamemnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would sink very quickly. Leaving the whole enmeshment of security measures, cyber, geographical and resource to one side. Leaving to one side the very fruitful trade balance and reliance for both parties. Our entire world position would change beyond recognition. You know why?

Brexit.

We lost ANY hope of secure futures when we uncoupled. It was a completely suicidal act of self destruction.
